We could not have been more pleasantly surprised with this hotel, although all the reviews led us here, we still found much to be pleased with. This is an old 1940's hospital, remodeled with taste and thought. Lobby area very pleasant, nice seating areas, water always available at the desk, staff very personable and helpful, easy check in/check out. Exterior areas nicely landscaped. Rooms (we stayed in two different rooms)smallish but adequate for sure, tastefully done with muted colors & bedding. Shower was wonderful, rain shower , nice tile work, all amenities, nice lighting. We enjoyed the rooftop bar, great sunset viewing, nice wine list..it is very well located to downtown, airport, restaurants...two of our favs were The Grove and Farina both just 2-3 blks away. Bedding was very nice, bed comfy.. a good breakfast is served with lots of choices , above average choices in fact. Only complaint and for most this probably would not be an issue, we are very noise sensitive, hotel is located at a very busy intersection with the freeway right above...so both rooms did have some traffic noise...the second one overlooked the courtyard and noise seemed not so intrusive....despite this minor issue we would definitely return.
