This hotel is the former Sheraton and next door to the Courtyard. My experience is mixed. The room, hotel, and grounds were pleasant and clean. The open Spanish design and tropical vegetation is delightful. The staff was competent and friendly. The breakfast buffet was a bargain. The refrigerator is a nice size and is empty for use, not a mini-bar that is filled. The location is great in the middle of a strip of hotels.
We did not realize there was no elevator and did not request a ground floor. There were none available when we arrived and found out the building has no elevator. My husband had some difficulty climbing the stairs, Moving luggage to the upper floors is a hassle. The room smelled musty, but I suspect that may be unavoidable with the high humidity in Brownsville and the older window air conditioning units. The air conditioner was noisy. The bed and linens were mediocre.
Bottom line is that it is acceptable and I wouldn't avoid the hotel, but I would probably check out other options.
