“Beware of identity theft at this place”

I have never seen such a discusting place in all my life. The first thing we encountered when we walked into our room was a small refrigerator covered with dust. The rest of the room looked old and worn but when we saw what looked like blood splattered on the ceiling above the bed we asked for another room. The next room had broken glass in a picture frame on the wall and was equally worn looking. We asked for another room which looked better than the others but on closer inspection we found that the sink was cracked, the white toilet seat was worn through to the wood andstained with what looked like red marker, there was no iron but the ironing board was there and the chairs were stained and coated with filth. The first night we came back after a day of siteseeing the room was just as we left it. There were clean towels, and the bed wasunmade. The remote for the TV didn't work. We asked for another and that didn't work either. The serve yourself continental breakfast was in a filthy kitchen. There was tea but no hot water, old looking cereal and a package of white bread with about 5 slices of bread, and fake orange juice.
This place is an absolute nightmare. When the room started smelling of cigarette smoke we checked out. Should have done it before we ever checked in. The staff was accommodating enough and we weren't charged for the last night we had booked and didn't use.
Beware of using a credit card here. I originally booked by phone reserving the room with my credit card. A couple of weeks later I got a call from my credit card company saying that there was some suspicious acitiviy on the account. My husband paid for the room using his card and about a week or two later got notification from his card service tellig him that they had seen suspicious activity on his account . We think the common demoninator is America's Best....or should I say Worst.

“Awful”

I thought I was getting a bargain at 57 bucks with an airport shuttle. I could hear another guest barfing. I could hear people walking in front of my room all night. The neighborhood wasn't dangerous but kind of on the outskirts of downtown salt lake and i didn't feel comfortable leaving my car there for a week. the room was shabby and not too clean. tv reception was terrible. pillows flat. heat horrible. on the upside staff was nice and they had a computer you could use to surf the internet (which i did to make reservations at the ramada inn - near the airport on amelia earhart drive - fabulous at 39 bucks!). I usually don't take the time write reviews but felt the inn was falsely advertised and not as "shiny' as its description indicated. would NOT stay there again.

“Not a palace, but great price, clean, and friendly”

I've stayed at America's Best Inn & Suites for three years running, for a major trade show (Outdoor Retailer). At a time when most hotels are $150+, and many booked, This place was $50-60 a night (if booked a few months in advance).

I'd recommend this for a business travel. While there is no breakfast, no amenities at all really, there is free wireless access and a nice Holiday Inn next door. Holiday Inn has a restaurant and lounge and I typically would eat breakfast there.

Keep in mind I stayed there for a place to go to sleep, and wake up and shower. Always plenty of hot water, daily housekeeping, and a friendly staff. If you plan on staying in your hotel room much, don't plan on hanging out at America's Best.

Taxi's are easy to come by, and it's about $10.00 with tip to get to downtown. For $50/night you could even rent a car and still be under budget from other area hotels!

  • Liked — PRICE
  • Disliked — Great for sleep, but that's it
  • Tips/Secrets — Save money on the hotel and spend money going out and doing stuff!

“Fine for the price”

This is a budget motel. Don’t expect bellhop service, etc.

The owners have done some cosmetic fixing up and the building is in pretty good repair except for the stairs, which they appeared to be getting ready to spruce up also. Otherwise, not bad.

Our room on the second floor had been recently painted, carpeted and caulked, etc., so it was more than fine considering the low price. There was a two-cup coffee maker, hair dryer and ironing board in the room. Separate heating/ac unit in each room. There is a TV with several cable channels. Also an alarm clock, of course.

The desk clerks were polite.

The bathroom was clean. No complaints about the maid service. The beds were made each day and new towels, etc. provided.

The free breakfast was about as basic as can be–coffee, a choice of cereal with paper bowls and plastic spoons, some white bread, a toaster, butter, jelly, and bananas. This is not a complaint. That’s about all I ever have at home anyway. I wasn’t expecting a sit-down with eggs and bacon–I am just pointing out what you get.

I had read about bedbugs at other SLC hotels (including a well-known high rate property), so I checked. The mattresses in our room were new and there were no signs of bedbugs. So no worries about that, at least in the room we had. (You may laugh at this, but this is becoming a big problem in the hotel industry, even at “luxury” hotels. You should educate yourself on this subject and check your hotel beds, no matter where you are staying)!

Convenient to downtown and easy access to the Interstate highways and ski resorts. But there is nothing much around this property in the way of restaurants, parks or tourist attractions.

There is a small pool, but we were there in early spring.

There is a computer in the lobby with internet access, which sometimes did not have a connection.

We were skiing at different resorts, so only needed a place to crash. We’ll probably opt for something a bit nicer next time, but this place is fine for a budget trip. I should point out that there were several construction workers staying there (no doubt attracted by the low rates) and the alarm clocks started going off at 5:00 a.m. each morning, then another at say 5:15, another at 5:30, etc. I guess the walls are not real thick.

Again, there is no way around this being a budget property. But it was nicer than what I expected.
