“Warm atmosphere and excellent service”

We were greeted warmly by Linda, one of the innkeepers, who lead us through the main building where breakfast is served and each evening hors-d’oeuvres are available, DVD's and videos can be selected, and information about local restaurants and attractions is offered. We were then taken to our room and it's many amenities and instructed in their use. Some of these include a fireplace and central heating (which is nearly silent), a fully stocked CD collection compiled by mood and complete with separately adjustable volume control in the bathroom where the whirlpool tub is located, and finally, a DVD and video equipped television. We were then offered several breakfast times for the following morning.
The Bathroom is roomy and equipped with a Jacuzzi style tub that easily accommodates two. Ample towels, shampoo, body wash, and real lavender room spray is available. There is also a separate shower.
Each morning we made our way through the gardens to the Great Room where breakfast was served. We were spoiled with a four-course meal while looking out through the grand windows at the lush gardens and beautiful ocean view. The food, the service, and, Peter the other innkeeper, were equally excellent.
In the evenings, we went out to edge of the lawn look down the cliff to the ocean and listen to the waves crash against the cliffs. We are also supplied with professional binoculars to look out at the stars. The outside too was superb. The grounds were professionally groomed and well laid out. The gardens were dense, lush and full of many different flowers and exotic plants. Seating areas are hidden in the foliage and one next to an attractive little waterfall. The sound of the waves breaking can be heard from the front lawn where Victoria, Canada can be seen across the ocean as well as beautiful flowers and trees.
Wine tasting, lavender farms, fine restaurants, and plenty of activities are all within reach.

Typically, there is something I wish was different. This cannot be said about Colette’s

Colette's Bed and Breakfast has done it once again! My husband and I stayed there with full anticipation, knowing what we would get, and we weren't disappointed! We have been coming to Colette's for several years and will continue doing so as long as Peter and Lynda are the innkeepers! The view, alone, is like no other. You walk in the foyer and the fireplace and cathedral ceilings with plush leather furniture welcome you with their warmth and beauty! Peter and Lynda made our stay so enjoyable once again. The breakfasts are outstanding. Peter and Lynda make sure you're fully informed to go anywhere you wish. They are very knowledgeable about the "hot spots!" They offer to make your dinner reservations in the local area so you're not rushed at the end of the day, trying to find a place to eat. Lynda sets you up for a great masseuse session and the gals they use are fantastic! Then, after a full day, you can come back to the wine and cheese and chocolate snacks! The bedrooms are first class all the way! Our July stay put us at 20 nights there, I believe ~ we can easily do 20 more!!!

“A fine ending”

My wife and i found Colette's back in 2001 and have come back every year since then, sometimes twice. This last trip we had come back from our annual Hawaii vacation and wanted to make the vacation last a little longer. Colette's was the only choice. This is like having a great gourmet meal (HawaiiI) and finishing with an out of this world dessert (Colette's). The rooms, the views, the meals are absolutely fantastic. Lynda & Peter are fantastic hosts, we feel very welcomed and appreciated at all times. Colette's is more than just a B & B, but an experience to be enjoyed. Just enjoying the gardens and view of the straight and the quiet is well worth the cost. Watching the bald eagles flying around is just an added treat. We have stayed in almost every room and have found them to be luxurious, cozy & romantic. Coming to Colette's, I can shut out the world and enjoy a little piece of heaven. If you want to see the sights around the area, Lynda & Peter are very knowledgable and have given us great tips and ideas. They have directed us to some fantastic restaurants and even made reservations for us. They go above & beyond as far as I am concerned. Come to Colette's for a memorable time.

“Shiny and pretty, but lacking warmth”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2006

Lovely gardens and nice new building... but anyone who has seen Seinfeld will recognize this phrase "Fake... Fake... Fake, Fake".

The facility (and that is what it is... not a home) is new, clean and laid out efficiently. There is a lovely patio and the great room is very nice. Once you have stayed next door, you realize that imitation is truly the sincerest form of flattery :-O.

Breakfast is good (not great). Our room's heater was also the fireplace (gas) which is OK until is gets cold and the sucker kicks on and lights up the room. And then it gets HOT. No listening to the surf here... although from some rooms it looks like you could (just not from ours).

Truly, I am not trying to be catty, but I did not get an ounce of sincerity from Linda the innkeeper. Maybe that was just my personal preference.

If you really are not into the whole "B&B" experience, this is probably a good place to start. THEN book a room at Domaine Madeleine and let them show you what you should expect when you spend the money to stay at a fine Bed and Breakfast.

P.S. If you really don't like B&Bs, stay at the Best Western in Port Angeles. It is clean, well run and has a nice breakfast for much less $$$. But the ocean is 1/2 mile away.

cheers!

“Like a cold 3 star hotel with exquisite gardens”

Our July visit included 3 days at Collette's and 3 days next door at Domaine Madeleine(see review). Same view, but many major differences in the two properties- B&B warmth!Collette's gardens are divine, lush and professionally groomed. This place was designed and built as an Inn. The Spruce suite was new, clean and attractive; however the bed cover & shams (bedspread) were missing the entire visit. Drab sheets that did not fit, only two pillows and two cheap blankets for a $280 night showplace...no way. I did notice that innkeeper Peter was cleaning and doing laundry. Do they not have help? He was very nice and a capable breakfast cook, but ice cream just to fulfill the supposed 5 course meal? He did send us off with a generous boxed breakfast the last morning. My biggest disappointment was the poor welcome and hospitality. Lynda greeted you with a beverage, then laid out cheese, crackers and smoked salmon squares like a supermarket sample, then disappeared. Certainly no warm introduction/home tour and we had to ask to check in and see our room. The next afternoon the main house was locked, we were clearly not welcome for coffee/cookies/refreshments/conversation unless some new group checked in. No info about movies available or details about the property/area sights. Lynda was not available at breakfast when inquiring about advertised massage. We were quickly aware this couple worked here in split shifts and did not really care about sharing their home. For goodness sake, tell the owners to spring for an electric gate and quality linens.
