This motel is basic and undistinguished in everything save its view and location. Rooms with a harbor view are available for a modest premium, and its location is extremely convenient to downtown Port Angeles, which, as it turns out, appears to have been bitten by teenage vampires and succumbed to the not unpleasant infection. There is therefore a superabundance of Twilight-themed souvenir, clothing, eating and drinking establishments and of Gothic-themed people, too. Who knows why. Just a brief walk down the road takes you to a nice area of small restaurants and watering holes in the city center (this being a small city its center is correspondingly tiny). Of these, the Second Street haven in city center is excellent for breakfast. The ferry landing is next, with a variety of establishments nearby that cater mostly to tourists. Of these, Wine on the Pier is excellent for food and service. The Downriggers Restaurant at the pier has a great view but its indifferent food may disappoint you.
The Port Angeles inn, in summary, offers a great location (worth five stars) at a correspondingly high price bearing in mind the basic nature of the accommodations (minus a star; we paid nearly $200 including taxes for a room with a view in August 2011). You may wish to investigate the Quality inn, which is right next door, for competitive rates.
