A great nights bed and breakfast. We had both rooms. Very comfortable. Breakfast was great. It would have been better with a small TV in the room.

We had a really nice stay with Mary and Anton. They looked after is wonderfully. The room was delightful as was the breakfast. We had use of their sitting room and the views were amazing. The Coromandal is a great area of NZ.
180 degree views atop of Paku hill, overlooking the estuary part of Tairua and Pauanui, it was definitely amazing. Environment was relaxing, welcoming and clean. The bed was very comfortable, one of the best I have slept in. The hosts were friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The theme was pohutukawa in the bathroom, I think every b&b should have a theme, gives it originality. Also thought the make up remover sachets were a nice touch. I will definitely return as I didn't want to leave. It was like a home away from home with someone attending to you (e.g. bed made, room tidied, and breakfast avail). It was also great value!
For those wanting to experience a real taste of New Zealand hospitality, you must visit Anton and Mary's Bed and Breakfast in the gorgeous and unique location of Tairua. The views alone from Anton and Mary's home are worth the trip. Tairua means "two tides" in Maori and we have never experienced seeing two different bodies of water at once - the estuary of the Tairua River on the one side and the stunning ocean side beach on the other. Being situated on Paku hill, Anton and Mary have at least 180 degree views of both. They invited us into their lounge and onto their deck to experience it for ourselves (even though the views from our room were good). We were also charmed by the birdlife - the call of the Tui and the visit of the quriky native quail.
Our friendly hosts provided us with a charming, cosy and comfortable room. The attention to detail was outstanding - from books, games, CDs, beach towels, umbrella, fruit, cookies and good quality tea and coffee right down to make-up remover sachets in the bathroom. The supposedly "simple" breakfast included a choice of cereals, toast, choice of spreads, yoghurt, fruit and juice, as well as plunger coffee and tea. We were more than happy with our breakfast.
We stayed in the French Room and it was spacious and very well appointed. All of the linen was high quality - lovely fluffy towels and plenty of them. The bed was made up with gorgeous white cotton bed linen. The bathroom was also large and well appointed. Everything in both the room and bathroom was scrupulously spotless.
We were attending a wedding and are thankful our friends chose such a glorious spot because we would have been ignorant of the delights of this lovely spot on the Coromandel. We will definitely visit again and are looking forward to bringing our family back to Anton and Mary's. They were so welcoming and friendly that we feel like friends after only a short stay. They definitely deserve our recommendation!
This was our first stop in NZ and we spent a lovely if too short 2 nights here. Anton & Mary were the most gracious hosts. We had the front room which has a very comfortable big bed, and is luxuriously and tastefully decorated and very clean. The bathroom is large and well equipped with a very good shower. Location is terrific on ths side of Paku Hill. The views of the harbour area are breathtaking, especially from the family room upstairs where we were served a lovely breakfast.
We found there was insufficient cupboard space for clothes etc. as well as a lack of a divider between the internal passage to the bathroom and a staircase inside the house. We understood that both issues are about to be resolved. In any case, these minor detriments did not reduce our overhaul contentment with this very fine B&B. Thank you Anton and Mary.
