On a 23 day roadtrip, we stayed at many other B & B's, as well as 4-star hotels, and the Riverview was our most memorable stay. We are long standing B & B travelers, and this one has to be around the top of the list as one of our favorites. The location on the north side of Natchez overlooking the Mississippi is fabulous---I can't imagine any better view of the river than the one you have on the 2nd story porch here. But the best part of the experience was the proprietor, Durell, a retired hairdresser to the wealthy in New Orleans and truly a character out of a Tennessee Williams novel. His stories about life in New Orleans and Natchez were both hilarious and insightful. He was gracious the entire time and very helpful with restaurant selections. He loves to cook, and breakfast was truly gourmet. He even offered to carry our bags to the car (pretty rare for a B & B).This is truly an example of how important the proprietor can be in the B & B experience.
The house is almost "overcrowded" with quality antiques and original art work. There is a lovely garden in front. When we made the reservation, we had to take a two room suite (which was more than we needed) because the other two rooms were already booked, But when we got there, he told us that there had been a cancellation, and we could save money by taking a regular room---he could have just not told us, and gotten more revenue from us, so we really appreciated his forthrightness. Our room was comfortable, but be advised that there is no shower in this room, just a clawfoot tub (I think one or more of the other rooms has a shower).
Durell is not computer-literate, so there is no website, etc., but I guess word of mouth is all he needs to keep his rooms filled. Overall, the fabulous river view (very romantic at night), the beautiful home, comfortable rooms, good breakfasts, and especially Durell make this a "don't miss out" experience (and this comes from someone who is normally quite frank and often critical in my Tripadvisor reviews).
