“Welcoming and cosy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2010

We stayed here in middle of the snows, and having walked 5 km through the snow (out of choice!) we were glad of the cup of tea served om arrival. Loved the two friendly cats, and the room was really well decorated. Bathroom in particular very stylish! Great night's sleep, and delicious breakfast. The owners are welcoming and happy to recommend places to eat and visit. Highly recommended.

“Quite nice.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2010

Although the room was really bare it was clean. The bed was comfortable, although the orange colour on the walls of the room was a bit psychedelic to my taste :) (it actually looks better in this picture here than it is in reality: http://www.bedbreakfaststansted.co.uk/bedrooms.htm). However, we only slept in the room so it really didn't matter. The toilet and shower were shared.
The owner was really friendly and offered us tea and biscuits on arrival.
It cost about 12 pounds to Stansted airport early in the morning.
For people who are allergic it's worth knowing that they have a cat at the guest house.

“A pleasant place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010

We stayed two night s at The Grange and were more than satisfied with our stay. Peter's wife was away during this time but we were well looked after. Peter was friendly and very helpful, suggesting places to eat and visit. The rooms were very clean and breakfast was very nice. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if we are in the area.

“Comfy B&B run by enjoyable and helpful couple”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2010

Peter and Paulette Charlton are friendly and accommodating hosts of this small B&B occupying one side of a duplex on a residential street just ten minutes' walk from the Bishop's Stortford Railway Station. The rooms feel like those of their children who have now moved on -- and that may be the case. Our room was like a finished attic room -- though not uncomfortable for that. Paulette serves a variety of breakfasts. She and Peter are happy to talk with their guests -- they were willing to join us when we enjoyed wine while sitting on their back patio one afternoon. Peter could suggest a number of local restaurants -- including several that turned out to be very nice. Since there were four of us wanting to explore nearby villages, Peter suggested that a taxi would be less expensive -- and far more convenient -- than either bus or train, and he contacted a local cab driver, Kevin, who was extremely accommodating.

“Loved the Grange! Great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2008

The BEST B&B i've visited so far in the UK (October 2008).
The owners are LOVELY, they welcomed us even if it was very late (please, no arrivals after 11 pm though! our plane was late).
The rooms are clean and cozy, there's plenty of books and newspaper if you feel like reading, and there is Internet wi-fi access for your laptop. And LANDLINE calls to continental europe and USA are free.
If you love cats, there are a huge lovable black cat and a 3-legged cat who love to be petted!
There's a big backyard, and parking on the street is safe.

The breakfast.... OMG! She is nice and will fix your breakfast for you at anytime you required, or prepare a packed breakfast if you have to leave too early. She will chat with you if you feel like talking, and give you directions and all. She loves making breakfast, and uses organic producs. The breakfast is Full English: several teas and coffee, fruit juices, cereals, toast and bread with several organic preserves and honey; ham and several cheeses, fruits..

If you're arriving to Stansted and need a place nearby, consider the Grange, it's DEFINITELY worth the price and it's easy to reach if you have a rental car OR going there by train from Stansted Terminal: only 5 minutes away. And you will love it! I will DEFINITELY return!
