Stayed in the Days Hotel prior to an early morning flight from Stansted. Value for money place to get a nights sleep but nothing more than a Motorway Services Lodge really. On checking in we asked where the bar was and were advised they never had a licence and the nearest pub was a 15 minute walk down the road to Bishop Stortford. Oh well, start walking...

By the way, the pubs called the Nags Head and it wisnae bad. Staff were very friendly and they also do a nice line in bar suppers.

Fixed price of £10 from Airport to Hotel and vice versa by taxi, so at least you know what you're getting before the meter start clicking. Hotel books the taxi for return journey and in our case the two taxis we required were sitting outside the front door before half past 5, which is the time they were booked for, so top marks for that. Journey between hotel and airport is only about 5 mins.

I presume the Hotel provides catering but to be honest we weren't there long enough to find out. The Costa Coffe next door is open 24hrs, so the closest we got was an Americano before getting in the taxi.

My one negative with the hotel, and it's a strange one - on checking in we were advised that one of our two rooms was a smoking room. I was under the impression that smoking in hotel rooms was made illegal a couple of years ago but our room smelt horrible (to two non smokers). Strange but true.

Bottom line - west end comfort it's not but if you want a fairly cheap bed for the night and don't have an urge for alcohol, this place will do the trick for you.

I've stayed just recently at the Days Hotel when I checked in people complained about the taxi charge of £10 per car for a car which fits 6 People!!!! Idiots, the taxi service they've used before was £5 per Person. So what is cheaper???
I had a fab stay and I will always go back espacially when the Rooms cost £10 per night in a promotion deal with the mirror like starting from tomorrow!!

right next to a large late opening service station, very handy for snacks, drinks etc. staff at desk were friendly and asked us if we needed a taxi or wake up call the next morning. they arranged both for us with no trouble at all (taxi was on time and only £10). room very clean, liked the availability to choose a smoking room. tv with many channels. great that there was a kettle with free tea/coffee provided. bottles of water in fridge at front desk for £1, very handy. didnt have breakfast but nice that there was the breakfast option from 4.30 am onwards. good sized room and bed was extremely comfy. not a place to go for a long leisurely or luxury stay but fantastic when travelling to standstead airport for early morning flights etc. couldnt have asked for a better place for a one night stay to get to the airport

The hotel is based at the Birchanger services area at junction 8 of the M11. The hotel is clean and comfortable and especially suitable for early flights from Stansted as it serves a continental breakfast from 4.30am and cooked breakfast from 6.30am. The reception staff are very friendly even at 5 in the morning! The rooms have comfortable beds; a quite large shower with large fluffy bath towels and a flat screen TV (with Freeview). At the price the hotel is definitely good value for money.
