“lovely cottage with a horror”

as in previous reviews about this b&b we were met by one horibble individual who posed as our host! snobbery at it's ugliest.
the proprieter of this place is clearly in the wrong trade, rude, abrupt, and unpleasant.
this woman should be reminded that in running a b&b that she should be the subserviant of the guests, and be there for their needs and comfort, something that clearly wasn't there. this woman needs to rethink on her attitude... maybe she would be far better of as the bossy dinner lady that we all remember from our school years.

by far the worst place i have ever stayed.....

“Worst reception ever at a b&b, stay away from it!!”

Oh where do I start. It was just a day after our wedding so I we decided to go to Norfolk for a little while before a bigger honeymoon. Firstly, I should have known the lady owner was going to be trouble when I spoke to her on the phone. She was very abrupt and didn't seem to care much e.g. she said we had to be there at 4pm no earlier or later. But we headed out there anyway. When we got there, she was taken aback( I beleive this lady is racist) because she saw we were black and suddenly became very impolite asking us if we had the right to stay in the country!! I don't know if she thought every black person was an illegal immigrant. After a little while filling forms, my wife was pissed off with her stinking attitude and told her to please change her approach. She suddenly flipped and told us to leave her premises. She actually called the police as well as she said we were trespassing. Infact what had happened was that, I asked for the form we had filled out to be destroyed in our presence(to stop any implications) but she refused. We eventually left and were glad we did because we soon found Croft house - http://www.crofthousecromer.com.This is one of the best b&b we've been to, and I recommend to anyone - wonderful hospitality. Please do not go to the white cottage especially ethnic minorities, it is not worth it. If she could ask us to leave even though we had driven down from far, she'll do the same to you. Stay away.

“O Yes the worst B&B ever”

I stayed at this B&B, it was my first break since my dad died two years ago so wanted some time out at an area I knew well. Because of delays we left our home later than intended but phoned the B&B to say we would be there by 10pm. We arrived 9.45pm. The reception was very cold no friendly hello or how was the journey. We were told abruptly to put down what we required for breakfast. Shown to our room, I requested a front door key (which is the norm @ B&B's) as we had not eaten since noon. The owner shouted at me and said "I have waited up for you to arrive and you won't be going out now" and stomped off. I was so upset I let it go and went to bed fully dressed and hungry. Next morning all the guests were seated at a long table and food was plonked down in front of us and when I reached over to use the sauce was shouted at to wait till everybody was served before eating. This must be the norm as the other guests just kept their heads down. I tried to complain to the tourist board but was just told it was a very good B&B and no one else had complained - do they dare! My partner was Asian so I just thought it was a racist thing. Also, we had paid for three nights and because of money stayed but dreaded going back there. You should be out enjoying the sights and not worrying about where you are staying. Please, if you are thinking of staying in Cromer - DON'T STAY AT THE WHITE COTTAGE! The owner is rude and arrogant.

“Excellent - recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2009

Our stay at this B&B was everything we hoped it would be.
The room was spotlessly clean and large and airy. The breakfast was superb, ordered to our preference and served at the time requested. The location was fantastic with lovely walks along the cliff walk and lovely views from our room.
I would not hesitate to recommend this B&B and intend to stay there again myself.

“Worse than being at school”

I should have known when I rang to book this B & B, the owner was very abrupt and insisted I sent a deposit immediately by 1st class post, her tone was bullying and unpleasant. I was asked to ring her when we were near to the resort to find out when we could arrive as she had lots of other things to do! This we did and were told to arrive no later than 4.30 because she was going out for the evening and wouldn't wait in for us. When we arrived we were told off because we had parked in the car park in a space which didn't suit her and she told us to move it to another space. The place is OK, nothing special but it was clean. We couldn't get over all the "do not" notices all over the room. Do not leave anything plugged in when you left the room (ie table lamp or television) Do not empty tea pot down the sink, do not throw anything down the toilet, do not leave any lights on if you leave the room. The room was advertised as having a fridge for fresh milk but the fridge wasn't plugged in and no fresh milk was provided. The bed was very uncomfortable with an electric blanket socket sticking in my back all night (the temperature outside was over 80 degrees! ) My husband who suffers from advanced cancer was very tired but because of the owners two dogs barking for half the night we couldn't sleep at all. We had had to fill in a form the night before to say what we wanted for breakfast, and instead of the full English breakfast my husband had written that he wanted egg and sausage and indeed that is all he got, one egg and one measly sausage! Although we had booked to stay for three days and paid in deposit the equivalent of almost two days we decided we would go home rather than stay another minute in this awful place. When I told the owner that we were leaving she demanded full payment for the three days. I refused and told her she was already on the best side as we had paid for more than the one night we had stayed. She threatened me with court proceedings and I told her to go ahead, I would see her in court and produce the photos we had taken of the awful bed and rules and regulations. She didn't fulfill her threat, she would have come off worse if she had!
