“A good stay for the $”

This is the only lodging available in Ludlow, which is about 60 miles east of Barstow on I-40. For roughly $50 per night this was a nice stay. The room was clean, the A/C worked very well, the room had a large TV w/satellite programming (20 channels) and the beds were more comfortable than some national budget chains. Would stay here again given the opportunity.

I was driving across the mohave desert, tired and late at night. Ludlow has 1 gas station open 24 hours a day, a hotel and a coffee shop that was closed.
The room was ok, $50. The concern I had was in the middle of nowhere, with lots of semi traffic and nothing else.
there was no deadbolt on the door, and as a woman traveling alone I would have preferred either a deadbolt or a large dog. I put 3 chairs in front of the door and didn't sleep well.

i prefer the old motor lodges. park right in front of the door & walk in. register at chevron gas/mini mart across road. $50. very reasonable. i had no reservation. 2 double beds, shower only, no frig, no deadbolt lock, tv with approx 10 channels. clean. train track nearby, nice desert views. coffee shop next door. right off main hwy on old route 66. the only lodging between barstow & needles. Dogs are $10 extra. there is no beer, wine or alcohol of any kind sold in ludlow, so if you need a glass of wine to unwind with after a long drive be sure to bring an ice chest. i would stay here again.
