“Dreadful - give it a miss”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2009

We decided to go up to ski in the Sierra Nevada after some good snowfalls between Christmas and New Year. We only wanted to stay one night, so we booked directly with the hotel at nearly 300 Euros for one night bed and breakfast.

The hotel describes itself to be central, yet it is well out of the village center uphill at the end of the evening. There is a lift that runs during the day, but the staff didn't know when it stopped and started.

The hotel is alpine style and pleasant. Our room was tiny, but characterful. However, our night was totally spoiled by the fact that the room temperature, with all of the radiators off, was boiling hot. Also, when we arrived, our toilet didn't flush. We asked for it to be repaired, then in the middle of the night it stopped working again.

The attitude of the staff to these issues was appalling. The manager came up to repair the toilet herself in the morning and when I told her how disappointed I was at the service and the heat and the room, she shrugged her shoulders and said she knew that it was poor.

We would not stay here again. There are better, more central hotels at more reasonable rates.

“Loved it!”

A lovely Austrian style wooden chalet hotel with 20 rooms halfway up the hill of the resort. As far as location goes for skiing it is excellent. Ski in and out straight from the front door almost and avoid the lines. Ski storage on the lower ground floor. If you want to go out in the evening night you can take the ski-lift down to the village and return by the local bus which stops just around the corner. Service of the bus does end around 10pm though so later than that you have to walk for about 10 minutes, uphill…
Breakfast is good and so is dinner if you chose to have it here, room service on the other hand is a bit basic.
The rooms are ample and well equipped and there is s DVD library should you wish to use it. The beds are unusually large and very comfortable with proper duvets instead of the traditional blankets.
Service is varying, in general very good however a couple of well intending but no action staff so to say. English is spoken very little but they try their best. In general this hotel is a level well above other more expensive and higher star rated hotels in the same area.
