“Beautiful, stylish and totally relaxed”

I did wonder why the website had quite such comprehensive travel instructions, but after getting lost twice round the various roundabouts and tiny turnings I responses that I should have paid a bit more attention. In particular the last stretch up a tiny road meant that our arrival was accompanied by the smell of burning clutch.
But boy it was worth it. Maria was a wonderful host and the rooms were beautiful and modern, with fully equipped and bang up to date bathrooms which meant that if you came for a weekend, all you would need would be a change of clothes and a wallet.
The evening meals on the terrace were a highlight too, and the lovely gardens and pool mean that this would be a great place to come for a very relaxing and warm romantic weekend. We will be back....

Room Tip: The superior rooms have their own garden or relaxing balcony

“A good choice of hotel to end the holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

Book room 8 which is on the ground floor with outside terrace. Partake of the evening meals which are delicious, cooked by Patricia, co-owner and served by attentive, friendly staff one being Carmen.

Stunning views, excellent choice for breakfast go when it is not too hot, relax and enjoy the ambience. In the early evening listen for the sound of accordion music from further down the valley and bells from the herd of goats in a neighbouring farm. We had a relaxing few days in this peaceful, rural location despite initial concerns about the access road as there is a short but steep pull up to the car park.

“Excellent Service, great atmosphere and a pleasant quiet location only 30 mins from the Alhambra”

The rooms are good well appointed and the food is excellent local fare, freshly cooked and presented with a friendly smile. The pool is a bonus for the afternoons especially on a hot July day!! would suggest booking a room with an outside space for the hour before dinner. Highly recommend.

“Amazing Stay - Will Be Back”

The journey from Marbella was very pleasant and straight forward, directions from the website are spot on. We were greeted by Patricia the co-owner, who from the off, was very friendly and welcoming.

The location is amazing, very calming and peaceful, a great escape from the bustle of Granada, although only a 20 minute taxi drive away.

Our room was beautifully appointed with all your requirements and stunning views of the Sierra Nevada. We stayed for 2 nights and had Dinner at the hotel on both nights, as the standard of food is so good and well worth the 35 euros.

I wished we had stayed an extra night to explore Albacin in Granada, we now have an excuse to return. Monachil is a friendly local village with many options for Lunch if staying around the hotel for the day.

All the staff are very welcoming and friendly, the hotel has a real family feel. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I would love to live in such a beautiful spot.

Room Tip: We stayed in rooms 11 & 12, which are very modern with fabulous views

“Great Experience - Highly Recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

I read the reviews before booking the hotel, and the drive uphill was not nearly as scarry as I expected. I've driven a lot in Europe so the drive up and down didn't faze us. We also had no problem finding the hotel thanks to the instructions they emailed us.

Other than that I can only agree with the positive reviews. The rooms were nicely furnished and everything was spotless. They provide way more amenities (and of a better quality) than other hotels. We were in a five star beach hotel after this and it wasn't as nicely equipped. The only problem: the shower/tub combo (which in itself was awesome) was separated from the bedroom by a glass wall. No privacy! This may be ok for couples but probably not cool when traveling with teen kids or friends. We took turns lounging outside while the other person showered. But still... maybe a curtain would be in order?

The best part of our stay was dinner. The food was superb and definitely worth 35 Euros. We got a better value for out money than most other restaurant, and unlike elsewhere the ingredients were fresh from local farmers. The staff are very friendly and you feel like you're invited over for dinner with friends. The view and ambiance are very iniviting and we felt well taken care of.

We also enjoyed the pool and the surrounding area. From the hotel we hiked along a mountain stream into a canyon gorge, which is an attraction in itself. Since Monachil is in the mountain foothills, it's also not as hot and humid as Granada, even though they're only a 20 minute drive apart. All in all a great stay!
