When you think of a category 5 Marriott Hotel you expect more. I should have known something when I booked the room & wanted 2 queen beds but they only had double beds. The rooms were not large enough for 2 queen beds. The bath room was not up to a Marriott 5 star category.
The service was excellent & all of the staff were very friendly.
I'll be coming back to Atlanta in Sept for another ball game but I do not expect to stay at this Marriott & pay the high price for a below average Marriott. In comparing it to the other hotels that the Marriott chain has, this would be more in line with the Fairfield.

If you end up in a suite ( which are very nice) your thinking 4+ stars. However if you end up in the standard room prepared to cramped. Overall the hotel i would rate 3.5. The location is close to nothing and near everything if your working downtown. Staff is above average, concierge lounge is average. Rooms vary between average (standard) to nice (suites), ask for your upgrade if your platinum ( you want the two room suite with seperate living room). Lobby bar has decent food and above average adult beverage selection., New courtyard might be a better option based on rate you are quoted, but outside of ritz and hyatt this is a good choice for downtown atlanta. I stayed here for business for one night in mid-week recently. The hotel is in an excellent location if you have business in downtown Atlanta, an easy walk from many major office buildings, Five Points MARTA stop, and the aquarium. The location is one of its best attributes.

Also on the positive side, the hotel is on a more human scale than its sister property, the Marriott Marquis about a half-mile away, and its rooms are larger than the Courtyard a block up the street. Plus, the staff is friendly.

On the disappointing side, the hotel decor seems like a throwback to the 1980s, lacking a pizzazz factor that you're starting to see these days from so many boutique properties. This is an ordinary mainstay business hotel. Having said that, I did appreciate the great bed and pillows. But I left hungry for more.

Went to watch the Packers in Atlanta in October. We had a great stay at this property. It was a 15 min walk to the Georgiadome and a 5 min walk to restaurants and bars. The service was great as well. Would definitely stay again.
