My three kids and I spent a wonderful few days at Molino de Santo. This was our second stay, the first being three years ago and I really dont know why we left it so long before returning! If you are looking for a country type of hotel, slightly off the beaten track this is definitely the place to stay.
The rooms are clean and spacious and nicely furnished and as far as amenities go there was not much more we could’ve asked for. The staff are always happy to help with anything. The meals were delicious and there was a good choice of meals and wines on the menu. The kids menu was perfect and portions were just the right size. For breakfast there was a good selection of home made breads, pastries, cereals, yoghurts and fruits and two hot options.
The hotel is really great for kids and despite being worried that there was not going to be enough for them to do without the option of swimming they thoroughly enjoyed their stay! There are no televisions but they were happy to just play games and enjoy the nice warm fireplace in the evenings. The atmosphere created by the owners and staff definitely made them feel at home!
We spent one of the days exploring Ronda which has several museums to enjoy such as the Bandits and Hunting Museums. The kids enjoy the bullring and there are loads of fountains, good restaurants and ice cream shops.
We went donkey riding in nearby Montejaque, about a 10 minute drive away which the kids loved! The owners don't speak much English but were so friendly and the donkeys so cute that it didn't really matter!
You can also drive to any of the lovely white villages nearby and enjoy the narrow alleyways and a great tapas lunch on one of the squares. Grazalema which we visited is about 30 minutes drive away along a road with absolutely stunning scenery.
The area around Molino is great for walks along the river or for trail running. There are loads of activities on offer at the reception and the staff are very happy to provide information and maps. We didn't get to the nearby caves or to the horse riding but are hoping to return!
