“Why such poor reviews???”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Just returned from a 10 day all inclusive break at the soreda after travelling solo and leaving my partner at home- met up with my parents were staying there for 5 weeks in all - . After reading such varied reviews, like most I was a bit concerned...shouldn't have been. I had a great few days break (weather poor but we have no control over that one)...

-Room very spacious, cleaned daily & fresh towels daily if required...rooms at the front better views & brighter than at the side or back

-Food selection great: Breaky: cereals, fruit, yogurts, good ole fried breaky with bacon, sausage, eggs (boiled, omelettes, fried, scrambled) beans, toms etc etc. Lunch & evening meal: Lovely Soups, selection meats, savories, veg, potatoes, chips, pasta & sauces, salad, cold meats, selection cakes, pies, yummy custard......

-Staff very friendly & helpful... room maids hard working, catering & waitress staff excellent...bar service could be slow at times though :-(

-Free WiFi was great...able to chat and use the webcam to chat to the family back in the UK...this was a great little extra to have for me

-Convenient for bugibba bus terminal (10 mins slow walk) - can get a weeks unlimited travel for 12 euros or daily travel for 2.60 euros (bus service around the island is fab & easy to do)

-Hotel little dated & dark/dim in places...but all in all clean, spacious and a great base for exploring the area and island. More a 3 star - defo not a 4 star. The roof terrace & pool area has some great views around Qawra & Bugibba so make sure you get up there at some point

-Main negative for me was both the main entertainment bar & smaller/quieter bar TV screens were totally monopolised with SPORT.....football, tennis, football...oh yeah and more footbal...ahhhhhhhhhhhhh now that was something that annoyed us all..would have been nice to have a 'sport free' area to chill in after your evening meal!

-Main residents were over the retirement age (maybe this time of year) but for me (42yrs) It was great...they seemed to be having more fun than the younger groups there lol

Would I go there again...YES....prob only do half board next time, but it's still a great hotel to use as a base for a holiday to the friendly island of Malta

“our last stay at this hotel”

This was our third visit at this hotel so I knew what I was expecting. The overall stay was ok but to my surprise the management let go the only chef that seems to know what he was doing. I am referring to Gaetu who was always helpful and trying everything possible to please us. It is a real shame that for that reason we are a bit reluctant to return to this hotel. Rooms were clean and well kept and receptiion staff always cheerful and helpful.

“Two weeks in a Retirement home!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

My husband and I are 52 and we have a teenage daughter who was with us in November 2011 when we stayed in Soreda hotel for 2 long weeks., Most of the guests were elderly and we felt out of place as we didn't own a mobility scooter! The whole hotel was quite depressing, very dim lighting in all areas, the soft furnishings in our room were old and worn, our kitchen was so gloomy we spent our time all in the room in one bedroom as it had a large window! Luckily for us my husband was diving and we hired a car so spent many days out of the hotel, sadly the weather was poor which made the days spent in the hotel seem so much longer, we were glad we took our laptop as we could spend time browsing the internet and communicating with pals from home! The staff were pleasant but the hotel is in big need of a major revamp! Our light outside our room was never lit and on the last night of our holiday my husband found out why, the staff had covered the sensor with masking tape so the light wouldn't come on!! Energy saving maybe?? I have no pictures from inside the hotel as it was somewhere I didn't really want to have photo's of. We were so glad we chose bed and breakfast as it would have been torture to have to stay for lunch and evening meal, we spent most nights in local bars. Overall we weren't very impressed with Quara itself, we came to a conclusion that `most areas in Malta looked like they were either falling apart or were being built, we couldn't work out which! On reading the previous reviews I found it funny that things haven't improved but got worse! We will not be returning again, one visit was quite enough!

“nice spacious hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

we stayed at the soreda from 16th to 23rd january. room was very spacious and cleaned every day with fresh towels provided. bathroom also very nice. only drawback was we found the room very dark as although we had patio doors and a balcony not a lot of light came in as we were hemmed in on all sides by other parts of the building. food was always good and plentyful cooked breakfast and cerials bread, rolls, juice etc. dinner was soup, salad starters
choices of meats, fish, chicken always vegetables and potatoes. various choice of sweets every night. wine in hotel was inexpensive and lovely. nightly entertainment was mainly aimed at the older customers as there were a lot of retired people staying there on long winter lets but we found it enjoyable. hotel has plenty of other rooms to sit around in also a library/tv room with bar which was good if you didnt want to use the entertainment. staff at the soreda were always pleasant and helpful. hotel is in a good location, not far to walk to the bus station and bugibba square and a few minutes walk to the lovely promenade. all in all the soreda provided excellent value for money. it is a lovely clean hotel with excellent staff.

Room Tip: ask for front facing room as rooms facing the back are very dark inside

“Another Great Holiday at the Soreda”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Just returned from a 7 week stay at the Soreda including Xmas and the new year, would like to say a great big thank you to all the staff for your help and consideration you gave to my wife, whilst I was in hospital.
This was our second visit to this hotel, like most people we were apprehensive on our first visit, didn’t read any reviews, decided to make our own mind up, I believe you don’t judge a book by its cover you read it, same with Hotels you can find fault in a 2 star or a top 5 star Hotel any where in the world if you want to, a Holiday is what you make it - we booked for 4 weeks last year, stayed 6 weeks we enjoyed it so much, stayed there 7 weeks this year.
All the Staff are fantastic, a good morning or a hello and a smile from the cleaners to the management, even an hello and a smile from the owners, they all put themselves out to help in anyway they can.--To the moaners complaining about the food, and saying you wouldn’t feed it to a dog, then why for the next 3 weeks did you carry on using the restaurant every meal time and enjoying a 3 course meal, and then have the nerve to greet new guest and tell them the hotel is the worst you have ever stayed in, the management are there to listen, and if possible solve the problems, which I witnessed on several occasions.
To the person who called the Hotel a geriatric hospital, and said they were the youngest there, we was there the same time as you, didn’t you see the 6 teenage boys from Ireland or the couples with young children enjoying themselves? Sorry to hear your wife was taken ill with food poisoning and had to be taken to hospital, but there was not another single person from the hotel taken ill at the same time with this complaint.
To the people that complained about the Maltese using the dinning room and the entertainment room, you were in Malta, its their country, all the restaurants on the island are open to non residents for meals and entertainment, just the same as the uk. If anyone is going to Malta and thinking of using this Hotel -- in my opinion I don’t think you will be disappointed, fine food good entertainment, clean and of course all Maltese people are so friendly, go with an open mind make it your holiday and enjoy what the island offers.
As I said at the beginning I spent 5 nights in the Mater Dei hospital, to anyone who has a fear of taking ill on the island and having to go to the hospital don’t worry this hospital gives first class treatment.
Thanks to the person for sorting the movie channels. --Oh and of course thanks to all the wonderful restaurant staff, meal times were great, thanks to your friendliness -- Will be making another visit to this Hotel later in the year.

Room Tip: Any front rooms are great .....
