“Best Hotel in Gressoney La Trinite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Lovely hotel with excellent food and wine ! Friendly and clean. Our room was spacious and large enough for an extra bed. Our son's room was a bit on the small side for a double, but just for him fine. One downside, the beds are rock hard, but this is of course a personal opinion and preference. There is a small spa for extra charge, which we did not use.
This hotel offers a shuttle service every 15 minutes to the ski lift and picks up in the afternoon.
The resort itself was for us disappointing, rather ancient lifts and huge congestions and waiting times on all lifts, gondolas and cable cars.

“Great hospitality! You really feel welcome in this hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Great hospitality! You really feel welcome in this hotel! We arrived in this hotel after driving whole night at 10:00 AM in the morning with our 1 year old daughter . Within half an hour they cleaned the room, so that our daughter could sleep. The hotel has a nice atmosphere.

“the best hotel in the valley”

Good place to stay if you are either trekking or climbing in the Monte Rosa / Castore region or if you are skiing there. The hotel is new, clean, quiet and located just 5kms from the cable car station. The prices are high compared to other places in the valley, but there is a good selection of reasonably-priced wines in the restaurant, so at the end of the day it is OK. I was impressed by the staff at the reception desk - friendly, outgoing people, with excellent sense of humor. One more interesting thing: next to the Il Scoiattolo, there is a gigantic, old Busca Thedy Hotel - ruined and out of operations for a long time I guess... but it resembles The Overlook Hotel from The Shining by. S. Kubrick. I was expecting Jack Nicholson to show up in one of the windows ;)

“Easy to feel at home in beautiful surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 April 2011

Friendly, well organised hotel with excellent food and wine. Relaxing small spa (extra charge). We had a pleasant room with adequate storage space and view across a garden to mountains. A shuttle bus ran regularly during the morning taking us the 3 or 4 minute drive to the lift and again for pick-ups in the afternoon. A local bus stop was just outside the gates and ran frequently up to Staffal where the gondolas ran back up to the Gressoney side or up to Champoluc, and also down the valley to Gressoney St Jean. The hotel had a welcoming bar where we had fun local cocktails and good conversation. Dinner was enormous! Choice of starters (2 usually) and main dishes (3) always local or Italian made each evening for the next day. An extensive buffet of antipasti and vegetables also and a splendid cheese selection and this being the Aosta valley, they were all superb. Wines were good and well priced with a wide local selection and we had really good service including wine advice.
The one downer was the bed. Rock hard and purgatory after skiing. After suffering for 2 nights we asked if there were other mattresses but they had recently installed new beds throughout... They instead made up the (single) sofa in our room which was significantly better and we took turns the remaining nights. Not very romantic but the bodies survived to ski another day.
Quite a lot of British tour groups but not loud or intrusive, tended to be older clientele while we were there.

Room Tip: Quiet village, don't go for the nightlife.

“Warm atmosphere with a friendly service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 March 2011

This hotel has a very friendly and professional staff and they make you feel at home immediately. Location is for the solitude seeking person, couples or families and the small village itself is a quiet place in the middle of the mountains. It is great that the hotel has their own free taxi service to the nearest ski lift. Monte Rosa ski area is worthy of another story with its huge off-piste skiing possibilities!
