Friendly, well organised hotel with excellent food and wine. Relaxing small spa (extra charge). We had a pleasant room with adequate storage space and view across a garden to mountains. A shuttle bus ran regularly during the morning taking us the 3 or 4 minute drive to the lift and again for pick-ups in the afternoon. A local bus stop was just outside the gates and ran frequently up to Staffal where the gondolas ran back up to the Gressoney side or up to Champoluc, and also down the valley to Gressoney St Jean. The hotel had a welcoming bar where we had fun local cocktails and good conversation. Dinner was enormous! Choice of starters (2 usually) and main dishes (3) always local or Italian made each evening for the next day. An extensive buffet of antipasti and vegetables also and a splendid cheese selection and this being the Aosta valley, they were all superb. Wines were good and well priced with a wide local selection and we had really good service including wine advice.
The one downer was the bed. Rock hard and purgatory after skiing. After suffering for 2 nights we asked if there were other mattresses but they had recently installed new beds throughout... They instead made up the (single) sofa in our room which was significantly better and we took turns the remaining nights. Not very romantic but the bodies survived to ski another day.
Quite a lot of British tour groups but not loud or intrusive, tended to be older clientele while we were there.
