I stayed with my husband at this hotel for two nights in August 2003.
Initially, we were seduced by the panoramic views from the balcony of the room and decided to overlook the small details which we felt were lacking in a four-star room. However, when I lay down on the bed, it sagged considerably in the middle and we then approached reception to arrange for a room change. This was not forthcoming and I was faced with the indignity of lying on a bed to demonstrate to two members of staff just how bad the sag was! The 'handyman' duly propped up the bed in question and we were informed that another room could not be found until the following day. Other faults in the room included a lck of telephone, dusty surfaces, wallpaper falling from the walls, mini-bar fridge not working, no shampoo or soap in the bathroom and dead beetles on the floor! I spent the first night feeling decidedly grubby and tremendously hot due to the lack of air-conditioning. Upon arrival at the hotel, you are lulled into a false sense of security by the outstanding lobby and its views. Don't let this fool you. This is NOT a 4-star facility. Do not go! The whole feeling of the place is rather shabby and decidedly eerie with several of the on-site facilities now out-of-use. This experience compares sharply with four other hotels that we stayed in during the same trip and I would have nothing but praise for them.
