I’ve been traveling for the past 20 years and my accommodation of choice has always been a B&B. The William Miller House is by far the best one I’ve found in my search for the perfect B&B experience.
Pat and Mike make you feel truly welcomed from the minute you step through the door and enter there gorgeous home. It is spotlessly clean (a huge plus for me), the décor is warm and charming (not a bunch of things thrown together from yard sales), and the many special touches throughout the day that Pat and Mike arrange make the experience one where you, the guest, feel important and well-cared for.
Pat listens to what you find interesting in the city, or plan to do, and she’ll research what you need to know to get you there without complication. For example, I had inquired about attending a Catholic Church service and the next day the schedule of masses was printed and waiting on my bed, along with a weather report for the next day and two yummy chocolates.
All of this wonderful care is done unobtrusively…Pat and Mike strike the perfect balance of pampering you but not hovering or intruding on your time there. I’ve never stayed at a place where this balance has been so well attained.
The breakfasts are simply divine. Mike is a true master in the kitchen. I found myself saying, “I have a song in my mouth,” or “you brought New England’s beautiful fall to me with this dish.” They create an experience for you around their food that is the best I’ve EVER had in any B&B (and most restaurants). And the amount of food served will carry you right through without a pang of hunger to a late lunch.
The 5p – 7p wine and cheese (along with crackers, fruit and/or nuts) comes at the perfect time of day. And you can enjoy it in the garden room, or in the garden, on the front porch. There are many places around the house that are just lovely to relax with your treat or a good book.
Coffee is always available which is another big thing for me. I NEED to have my coffee no later than 600a and Pat has a Keurig machine set up in the dining room just for that.
Both Pat and Mike are so knowledgeable about the city and have maps readily available for wherever you’d like to go. She has a wonderful library of the city’s history and its most famous areas.
I could go on and on…but the bottom line is this: If you are looking for an authentic B&B experience done with taste, caring, and love, this is the place to be. Mike and Pat obviously take great joy in what they do and it shows in everything from the fluffy, white towels to the cozy and personal decor, to the truly exceptional food. An A+++ experience!
