“Good overnight hotel, nice front staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I was given an accessible room looking out over the atrium, which made the room dark. The funky cf lights were pretty dim, so if you're looking for bright lights to see, this may not be a good choice.

I'd ask for a room that doesn't overlook the atrium.

Front desk staff at check in in the evening were wonderful and friendly.

“Nice and friendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The staff at this hotel was friendly and helpful. I had an issue with my room shower which unfortuanely could not be promptly resolved requiring me to move to a different room for my second night. The rooms were clean, big, spacious, and comfortable. Hotel restaurant (breakfast) was very good and reasonable.

Room Tip: Inside rooms face an inside pool area.

“Friendly but extremely loud night staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Feel free to check my other reviews- I am not pathological complainer.
We scheduled our stay at this hotel specifically to get good night's rest before catching a morning flight out of Richmond on vacation. We live 2 hours southwest, so getting good rest and having a safe place to park our car for the week was the most important part of our stay. (Stay and Park offer)
For certain, this was a great place to park, the hotel provides a shuttle to the airport with curbside service. Both drivers were courteous, timely, and friendly. :)

The hotel has two problems:
1. The design of the atrium means that there is no barrier between the front desk and many of the rooms except one window in your room. This means that all the noise from the front desk wafts up to your room IF your room window faces the atrium instead of the outside of the hotel.

I have stayed in this hotel before and enjoyed my stay very much- we had an outside room and had no noise issues.

2. The night staff of this hotel are extremely loud and perhaps just don't care if they disturb the guests.

At 2:50 a.m. I was awakened by a lot of noise and went to the window, where the noise was coming from, to see what the trouble was and watched the night security man enjoying his Papa John's pizza on the couch in the lobby. He was quiet since he was eating. It was the front desk gentleman, chatting it up, whose loud voice and booming laughter had woken me. You wouldn't think that one person's voice could be such an issue, but, being in an atrium with brick and glass walls, the acoustics were wonderful. They chatted for a long time and there was no more sleep for me.

At 4:05, another loud voice was heard, this time in the hall right outside our room. A night staff person (not the same person as at the front desk) was walking down the hall, talking and laughing loudly on his cell phone while delivering a receipt page to every occupied room. I know this because I peeked my head out the door to see who could be making so much noise at 4 am. I saw him and he saw me and to his credit, he was a shade quieter. But did he stop chatting on his phone?
No, he chatted on his phone the entire length of the hall and back, audible the entire time.
UN-be-LIEV-able!

Does nobody train night staff at hotels?
People come to hotels to SLEEP, not to be woken up by your staff at all hours of the night.
Honestly, the staff was very friendly.
Had we not been leaving quickly to catch our shuttle to the airport I would have kindly spoken to the folks at the front desk.

Seriously, if I owned this hotel, I would do a noise study on those rooms above the front desk, and then implement more employee training so that this problem does not continue.
We won't be back...

Room Tip: specifically request a room WITHOUT a window to the atrium, a room with a window to the outside.

“Excellent Service....these guys are good!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

I was in Richmond for a Conference and stayed at the Wyndham Richmond Airport for two nights. Their housekeepers did not barge into my room before 10am (Thank you!). The breakfast served at the restaurant was excellent (the Virginia Cured Bacon was especially good). My room did not have a microwave but the front desk staff allowed me to use the one in their personal office (Thank you Cassandra.....). Their staff was genuinely kind (like they enjoyed working there) To me, small courtesies like the aforementioned make Wyndham Richmond Airport stand out and above the competition.

“Poor attention to details = aggravations and broken items”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

This is a hotel catering to airport travelers, but it failed to measure up.
Good: Free tram to airport; free printing of boarding passes, comfy bed.
Staff is very nice but poorly managed.
I stayed there 1 night to catch a flight out the next morning.
Problems:
1. There is an in wall heater/AC that has buttons to operate but which don't work...it's operated by a wall thermostat control. No notice of this, so the unit seems broken. Front desk clerk didn't know this. Wasted time waiting for building repair. The front desk clerk later thanked me saying she learned something about the rooms she didn't know. Next day front desk clerk said that Some of the rooms have a written notice and if I gave them my room number, they'd put one in there too.
2. Down elevator button on floor did not work. No notice. I kept pushing the button and waiting. Couple arrived behind me, and got it opened by pushing the up button, Said it was an improvement from their last stay when this elevator didn't work at all.
3. Internet not working the next morning. Front desk said it was due to rain.
The rain was very light, and VA gets lots of rain. Unacceptable standard that should be addressed.
4. There are 2 computers each connected to its own printer in the business center. After spending time pulling up my boarding passes the printer did not print. After several tries, finally approached the front desk clerk who said, Oh, that happens sometimes.....just (go through the time and trouble) of logging out and trying the other computer, which I did.
It would be a simple thing to have a sign on the computer/printer that was currently operational.
4. At ck in I was not infomed and shown the card I needed to get the free breakfast the next day. There may have been one placed in the envelope with my room keys, but I never saw it and left the envelope in the room as I was cking out. I had to wait while they completed a breakfast card for me the next morning.
5. The breakfast was OK, minimum cold free or pay for hot. The room is lovely....but, there is no self service for drinks, coffee/tea/juice/water, etc. One has to wait to be served.......and then wait again if you want a refill. Unacceptable set-up for an airport hotel where people often don't have the luxury of time. There was only 1 waitress when I was there, so I was lucky to get served in the time I had.
6. At 10 a.m. the entire floor from the elevator, thoughout the lobby and to the dining area was being mopped and slippery wet/dangerous. They said they were doing this because people had been walking in from the rain.
Behind the wet mopper, there should have been another person drying the floor as I've seen done in other hotels, but there wasn't.....one just had to deal with it with it even with one's suitcase until the floor dried by itself.
7. When I called for a wake up call, using the wake up call button on the phone at 2:30 a.m. and then calling the front desk, there was no answer for either. The front desk did answer 1/2 hr. later, but instead of sleeping I had to spend that time setting up and cking the in room alarm clock.
8. The tub in room is scary slippery....the traction lines on it are just for show. Good that there is a gripper bar.
9. My room faced in towards the enclosed indoor pool, so it was dark even with the curtain open.
10. TV selection was the very minimal/basic for hotels.

Conclusion: Instead of enjoying my stay, this customer was left dealing with all these issues that would have been taken care of in a well run hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms that face enclosed pool are too dark.
