This was our (my wife and I) second stay here. Paulo and Ann (the owners) truly make you feel like part of the family, the atmosphere is very informal, but you are looked after in every respect. On the resort side, it is a simple but comfortable setup with the family feel making it special and very welcoming. The food served is freshly prepared using fish caught that morning and is usually exceptional. It is on the diving side that this place excels with a concept of slow diving - i.e. that you are not rushed at any stage of the diving - a unique idea as far as my experience of diving on holiday is concerned. You meet at 9am, then drive to the boat (custom designed boat with lots of space and a sundeck up top), take an easy boat ride to the dive site, do a dive, then on surfacing you have a nice cup of hot tea on the sundeck for 30 mins, then an easy ride back! Its all about taking it easy.
Getting there is a different matter however! Ann makes it as easy as possible with getting tickets for you and giving directions but finding the right place to go in Palermo is not easy. Once you find the dock, you need to find the l'aliscafo (which is only marked with a banner 'Siremar', the company who runs the hydrofoil). The Siremar office is outside the actual dock on Via Francesco Crispi - don't listen to the Ustica Lines man who tells you he doesn't know about any other ferries!!
We stayed for 3 nights and dived for 2 days of our stay - and because we stayed right at the beginning of the season it was very quiet - which we like! I cannot recommend Profondo Blu enough - if I can help anyone please message me.
