“Fabulous Facility -- Superb People!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

There are two main places to stay in Harvard Square: The Charles (near the Kennedy School and the river) and the Inn at Harvard (near the Yard and in the middle of the Square). Both are superb. The folks at the Inn at Harvard were especially friendly, however, and courteous, and consistently went out of their way to be helpful.

Do not confuse the Inn at Harvard with the Harvard Inn, across the street from the Charles. Although both are owned by the same entity, the Inn at Harvard is the far better facility. It is more expensive (as is The Charles), but you get what you pay for.

All three facilities are hard to get into when there is a major Harvard event, such as graduation. So, if you are planning to go to a major Harvard event, make your reservations as far in advance as they will let you.

“Can't think of anything I didn't like”

I spent 4 nights at The Inn at Harvard and I had a really pleasant stay. The staff was always ready to help, the hotel is located at the heart of Harvard, so it's very convenient if you need to go there, and it also has a T stop (subway) really close by. The rooms are clean modern and have all kind of details (except that I didn't see a minibar). I can't give my opinion about the food because I didn't eat there. There's all kinds of restaurants around it. Regarding the price, I didn't find it cheap, but apparently is not expensive for Boston.

“A tired old hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

The staff were very pleasant, but this is still an elderly hotel, in need of replacing its' thermal windows so that you can see out of them! The room layout was awkward, the furniture seemed to take a lot of space. The bathroom had had an elegant up-date, in keeping with the character of the hotel.., but the reason to use this place is, as already mentioned---location. And the room was very quiet.
The wireless worked mostly for me, I thought it was my inexperience that made connections baulky.
Breakfast was speedily served, a bit pricey, and I object to having the tip already included. I suppose that having an international clientele unsure or unaware of tipping practices is why the hotel management have added this 20% to the bill.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I apologize that you did thoroughly enjoy your stay with us. In 2012 we are renovating our sister hote The Harvard Square Hotel and then in 2013 we will be renovating The Inn at Harvard. If you prefer a more modern looking hotel check out the Harvard Square Hotel mid March when we re-open. Again thank you for your feedback.
