“Read before making a decision”

As noted with other reviewers, there is a noise issue here at the Le Meridien. The room I had had one of those old connecting doors to the room next door - used to adjoin rooms. If you have guests next door, you will hear just about all of their movements (coughing, talking, zipping up luggage, television, etc.). This is a serious inconvenience and concern for the hotel (I hope a concern for the hotel).
Besides the above, the hotel is very good in all aspects. The design of the hotel is very well done and thoughtful. The furnishings in the room are modern, unique and stylish. The bed is very comfortable, with excellent soft down pillows. The room has the amenities you will need to stay comfortably.
Throughout the hotel (except the rooms), there is a 'soundscape' (or audio) created by an artist, providing soothing sounds. I like that touch, much more than music which is usually selected for the lowest common denominator.
Sidney's, the hotel restaurant serves great food for dinner. I felt the menu was varied, and well-prepared. The breakfast buffet is standard, yet the fruit selection is vast. Only trouble with this restaurant is the blaring television, which is quite annoying while attempting to enjoy a meal and/or conversation.
Overall, the hotel is excellent, but I will have to give it an "average' because of the noise from guests in the next room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room without a connecting room. I am unsure how many they have available, so it is worth a...

“Thumbs Up!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The concierge was most helpful in obtaining information for activities from how-to-get-there time-vs-cost to actually calling up the restaurant to find out if there would be a live band and patiently explaining cross streets to this visitor. Be careful of the rooms, though. The first room I got looked like the door had been jimmied open a while back. (First clue: key card didn't work.) I asked for a room upgrade and got one free of charge since the hotel was not filled. Very pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant in the hotel was surprisingly good, though the thermostat needed to be ramped up, cuz baby, it was BITTERLY COLD outside. So, wear a sweater for meals (in winter). All in all, I'd go back. Rooms were clean and king size bed was very comfy. GREAT pillows, too.

Room Tip: Ask for a king size bed upgrade upon arrival. I got mine without additional cost. Hotel is a lit...

“Nice Stay Ten Minutes From Central Boston”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Flew out to Boston for a quick weekend away from home. I was looking for a hotel with a decent rate that was centrally located. Oh, and I was looking for ICH or Starwood properties, having recently given up on Hiltons. Based upon what was available I decided to take a chance on staying in Cambridge, at the LeMeridien. It didn't have the best rate but the rate/location/property mix was right for me.

We arrived into Boston/Logan about seven o'clock Friday night and headed, via taxi, directly to the LeMeridien Cambridge. We were immediately pleased with the property: it was comfortably elegant. The front desk staff were very welcoming and kind. Without requesing it, the front desk person recongnized me as Starwood Gold and said she was looking to see if there was an upgrade for me. There was.

The room was comfortably spacious. There was an entryway, a living room, and a separate bedroom. (I shouldn't have to list this rooms but, these days, a "suite" is often not really a suite.) Furnishings were modern and minimalist.

The bed slept comfortably and the room was quiet and there were no issues. The hotel is located very close to lots of restaurants and it's only a five-minute walk to the T and a ten-minute ride into Boston. Harvard is a twenty-minute walk in the other direction.

I was very pleased with my stay at the Le Meridian Cambridge and would recommend the property to other travelers.

“A tiny room!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We arrived on the 27th of December and departed on the 31st. There were 2 female front desk receptionist and she is very helpful. It is a very convenient location, close to MIT and T station, and there are a lot of restaurants around the area. It is very cheap for $15 per person per week to take the T transit, and only about 15-30 min away from any Boston downtown locations and attractions. If you needed food, there is a hugh supermarket right besides the hotel and the self parking is about $22 a night. Just remember not to purchase anything in the hotel room would be fine. There is no fridge for personal use. Hotel guests needed to use the room key to access the elevators which is a great feature.

The area was not that great, especially during the night time, despite we had walk around every night. There is a taxi station just across the street and you could pick up taxi easily.

The Chinese restaurant's (across the street) price was OK and the food were cooked with minimum oil and salt. A breakfast place called "Science" something's breakfast was nicely made.

We reserve a 2 double beds unit. The room was nicely decorated, with modern picture and unusal look furnitures (but not that comfortable). The high speed internet was free, and the internet speed was amazing, faster than any internet that we could get in Toronto Canada. The room and bathroom was quite small, there was not much room for us to walk around in the bedroom and have insufficient working area for 4 of us. Most of the time we needed to use the bed for reading instead. Our window was facing other office's windows, therefore, we have to close our drapes all the time. One complaint is that the comforter was very heavy and the beds are a bit too soft, we didn't slept very well for the nights.

On the first night, the bathroom was stucked and water came out of the toilet after my son pee. They sent someone quickly to clean up the mess. On the last day, the lamp of the bathroom was out and the bathroom was in dark. Besides that, the room was OK.

Overall, the 4* hotel was not perfect, not quite comparable to the 3.5* "Newport Historic hotel and suite" in Neport, RI. However, if you take we paid only $80/night to expedia (excluding parking), with such a convenient and quiet location, it was not a bad choice and it is in Cambridge, very close to the very expensive Boston. I will definitely back to this hotel again.
