We stayed in the Embassy Suite, on the second floor. This included a very large bathroom with washer/dryer, combined eating/living room with a bay window and a large bedroom with a very comfortable bed. The proximity to Harvard was a huge consideration, as we were visiting our son there. It was just a short walk to Harvard Yard, and after walking through this, the subway stop was in the square. Kirsten, the owner met us when we arrived and showed us around the room and instructed us on the TV/ appliances/kitchen details. She was very friendly and helpful. Although we did not cook all of our meals during the week we stayed, it was nice to know we could. It was very comfortable to return to the suite at the end of long day running around Boston. We will definitely stay here again on our return.

53 Wendell is a private house with three(?) suites. Ours, the Versaille, had two rooms equipped with just about everything you could need during a stay: cooking utensils, a stove, microwave, a good coffee maker, refer,, washing machine... The bed was comfortable and the place was clean. The lobby (vestibule) was stocked with juices, granola, oatmeal packets, etc., etc.
I might have had a similar experience if a relative offered their home with the words "I won't be in town that week but you will find everything you need...make yourself at home". Kirsten the owner was (I think) in her apartment on the first floor but we never met. We had her cell phone number and called on the two or three occasions we had questions.
If your not interested in attention and personal hotel service 53 Wendell is a good place.

the bathroom door in the Versailles Suite is only 14 inches wide. You literally have to squeeze yourself into the bathroom. Otherwise the Wendell Suites are clean and comfortable, the staff attentive and friendly. We have stayed several times in several different rooms and have enjoyed all our stays here.
