We stayed at this pet-friendly Baymont Inn with our four dogs for a local agility trial. I was generally very pleased with the accommodation, and the facility was welcoming to my dogs.
The room was clean and the hotel nicely renovated. However, Saturday night was terrible for noise. When I complained about the noisy crowd of adults, teens, and children in the lobby at 11:00 pm, (some members of which were also running up and down the stairs and slamming doors -- making a good night's sleep nearly impossible for those of us who must get up early) I was told that the problem would not be resolved until midnight. It was incredibly frustrating to have to pay an extra fee for my dogs ($10 per pet, per night) only to feel like I was being housed with wild animals in some sort of frat house. (it was *that* loud!) My dogs were quiet and well behaved compared to the chaos in the lobby, hallways, and stairwells. While the person at the desk apologized, he did not do much to reduce the noise until well past 12:30am. He acted as though he was completely helpless to the rude folks camped out in the lobby, who had no regard for the rest of the hotel guests.
Additionally, when I checked out I was not asked how my stay was, or if I found everything to be satisfactory. Frankly the man said nothing at all. The desk guy could've cared less, and treated me like I was nothing as he took my room keys away (which I kindly brought to him, to be sure everything was squared away with check-out.) When I mentioned a side door to the outside that had been sticking terribly all weekend (practically locking you in if you didn't hit it just the right way --- a serious hazard to the safety of people in the stairwell, especially a concern of mine as a woman sometimes traveling alone) the man simply responded with 'yeah...' no explanation, no apology, no concern. No thanks for staying, no 'have a safe trip,' he just disappeared as quickly as possible into the back room.....apparently dealing with a guest was an inconvenience.
The breakfast was average, the cinnamon rolls were dry, and most importantly, the coffee was extremely weak in the lobby and the rooms.
This hotel is a beautiful place, the room was lovely (nice shower, good bed, clean every day, and well maintained) and I was so thrilled to find a nice facility that I could repeatedly visit when going to trials in the Springfield area, but it was made ugly due to its apathetic staff and it's loose definition of quiet hours. A bit more attention to the quality of guest experience would have gone a long way for me.
I realize it was a busy weekend, and the hotel was booked, but all the more reason to treat each guest with courtesy and kindness, and respect each person's concerns.....yes?
