“Fine for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

We've stayed at La Q in different states before, including the SW one in Omaha, and found them to be generally average. We wanted to stay at this NW one because it was closer to family that we were visiting for 3 nights in a row and there wasn't much once you get away from downtown. Although it has a tricky access, it was not hard to find. The photos are pretty accurate, although why anyone thinks those color combinations are inviting is beyond me. As one reviewer stated, it is an older motel that is in the process of being updated, so take that into account. For example, our room had a flat screen TV that worked well, although the only light switch in the bathroom controlled both lights and the ventilation fan - which rattled loudly non-stop. The towels are rough, the coffee maker was one of those one-cup-at-a-time jobs (annoying for more than one person), and the sheets were worn (one actually had a small tear in it). On the upside, the room was clean, stocked, no bugs and quiet. The staff was friendly, the parking lot clean, and the La Q "brightside" breakfast, while nothing exciting, was attractively set up and always stocked. So, for about half the price of other nearby motels, this one was certainly worth the outdated accomodations.

Room Tip: Look at the map before picking a room due to unusual double horseshoe layout

“Good Value”

We stay at this LaQuinta frequently when we visit our daughter who lives close by. The cost of the hotel is very reasonable. There is continental breakfast available. The rooms are fine. The beds are decent. They have recently installed new flat screen TV's and have started to replace the shower heads in the bathrooms. They are replacing carpet, more each time we go there. The staff is accomidating and tries hard to please. We have been there enough now that they know us by name. We became a member of their "club" and that seems to get us the room we want and we get a free night once in a while. Since we only sleep here, and not spend anytime in the room, we enjoy the value of this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room, there are pets allowed here and I make sure I am not staying next to the pet g...

“Perfectly acceptable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

Based on the reviews I read, after I had already booked, I was nervous about staying here. However, once we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and more than adequate for the price. It was spacious enough that we had plenty of room to set up the Pack-n-play for the little one. The hallways smelled funky, so I was worried that the room would too, but there was no problem. The bathtub was a little dirty, which is bothersome when traveling with a small child, but that's why I always bring Clorox wipes. We were there a week, so it would have been nice to have a room with a microwave and mini fridge, because I breast feed and did not have a place to store pumped milk. I was a little irritated about this, because Priceline told me that being given a room with those amenities is up to the hotel's discretion, but the hotel said that Priceline would not allow the upgrade. However, it wasn't that big of a deal; we were visiting family, and other than to sleep, did not spend much time in the hotel at all. The TV was fuzzy and the sound kept going in and out, but again, we were watching it right before we fell asleep. We would stay there again. If you're planning on spending down time at the hotel, I wouldn't recommend it. If you just need a place to sleep, it's more than fine.

“Run, don't walk, from this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

I have come to admire La Quinta. In the past several years I've had some very comfortable rooms that were exactly what I would expect for the price. However, I had a very unfortunate experience when I selected this particular location. It is without question the worst La Quinta I've ever been in. When my friends and I arrived (late in the evening) the front desk manager told us that he couldn't provide the two smoking rooms I'd reserved because "there was a fight in there and four of the rooms were demolished." I should have immediately told him we would go elsewhere. When I got to my room, I discovered that there was no curtain on my window. There was a light shining into the room and nothing I could do about it. The room itself was barely OK. It dates from the original La Quinta model and appeared to me that it had never been updated in the least. The bed was barely OK. The room had a foul odor to it, not connected to smoking. But the worst part of my time was the feeling that I wasn't safe in this location. I was warned by the front desk manager not to park in the back parking lot because "we don't have any lights back there." I struggled to even get into my wing of the building. The door seemed jammed and required a lot of work to get it open.

The one positive was the Internet service, which was immediate and fast. Since I always have a lot of work to do online, this is important to me, and I couldn't have been more satisfied.

But the bottom line is that I would never again stay in this location, nor would I ever advise any friend to do so. I believe the chain would be better to tear the building down and start over.
