We always stay in a motel over the holidays with our kids and grandchildren. We found this hotel on-line and booked it mainly for the pool. Normally, we would have gotten a suite to have plenty of room for the family, tree and gifts but this motel does not have any suites. They offered one of their three conference rooms to use...free of charge. We also have a small dog and we were not charged any extra for her either (in fact they gave us treats for her along with poo bags!). The only extra charge was for a roll-away. The double queen rooms are of average size. Nicely decorated but the beds were only average in the comfortable dept. We were here over New Year's Eve. The place was packed, but we rarely heard any noise ~ nice quite place to stay. The pool is for the little ones. The shallow end is 8 in and the deepest end is 3.5 ft. Altho I thought the pool area looked a little dingy, the two slides and raining mushroom were a hit for our grandkids. The hot tub was definitely a hot tub! The staff here all the way from housekeeping/maintenance to front desk were more than helpful and friendly. Our room … well, the entire 2nd floor was toasty warm. We were thankful that there was a window that could be opened in our room.
The minus' on this property were: no free breakfast. That really is a biggie for us ~ especially when we were covering the bill for several people. There is a Perkins attached. You get a 10% discount. That discount did not make up for the poor service at the restaurant. We were so very disappointed with Perkins that the next day we all went across the road to a Village Inn. Much better. When we complained to the staff at Perkins for the poor service, missing food ordered, etc, they just schrugged their shoulders. The cost of the room at Kelly Inn compensates for the lack of a free breakfast but just not use to that from a BW. Secondly...the back entrances are only accessible with your room card but at night you can't get back in thru the back entrances...even with your room card. When I walked the dog, I had to walk clear around to the front. Front desk advised that was for security. I didn't think it was very secure having to walk that much further in the dark. Third: No suites as I mentioned or connecting rooms. We love Best Western and always try to stay in one when we travel. The cons I have mentioned are not enough to keep us from coming back to this one. In fact, we plan on staying here again for our 2012 Family Christmas! We will just make different arrangements for our breakfast next time.
Room Tip: Get a room close tot he front of motel so you don't need to use back entrance as it is not acces...
