“We had a breakfast we never saw before !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Charming bed & breakfast located near Anchorage in the middle of nature. Extremely nice owners who do all they can to be at your service. The lady is from Scotland and she has really the sweet personality of Scottish people. Room very clean, nice maybe just a little small but really not a problem because you have the good sensation to live for a day with the hole family ! Bathroom perfect and very clean. Bedding ok. The breakfast is surprising ! You will have homemade bread very good and mainly an hot breakfast we never saw before ! A great big homemade belgian waffel (as they say in Alaska) with cream, fresh fruits, maple sauce and... hot caribou sausages ! Surprising but excellent ! If you need some information about what to do in Alaska, you can ask them, they will tell you the best. An excellent B&B to discover the real alaskan hospitality !

“Wonderful Place To Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

The Highland Glen Lodge was more than I expected in many ways. The room we had was very spacious, the beds were extremely comfortable, the bathroom was large and had many extra features. We had a separate bath tub and also a shower. They had shampoo and lotions available, which were lovely. The owners were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good. They had a sitting room with DVD's you could watch either there or take into your own private room. The lodge was about 20 minutes from downtwon Anchorage, but this was no problem for us because we were heading up to Denali National Park the next day. If you do not need to be near the downtown, I highly recommend staying at the Highland Glen.

Room Tip: We were traveling with our two grown children and the room we had was fine for the four of us. We we...

“Comfortable Room, Good Breakfast, Welcoming Hosts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Can't add much to previous reviews. Very clean and quiet, the beds super comfy. At breakfast (8 people) it seemed like there were numerous special requests which the hosts gladly accommodated.

Be aware that the B&B is about 15 to 20 minutes away from downtown Anchorage. We knew this and were willing to make the drive to stay at this lovely and reasonable place.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Eagle's Nest, liked it very much

“Elegant place & friendly hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

We stayed here for one night on our way out of Alaska - we actually got a last minute deal here and were very pleased with our choice (I usually do loads of research on places to stay) - this was a pleasant surprise find). The hosts were friendly & gracious without being intrusive. The place was tastefully decorated (scottish style). The room was a sufficient in size, and the large bed lovely and comfortable. You can borrow dvd's and there is a common area for tea/coffee/microwave/small fridge (rooms have coffee/tea too). The garden was lovely too and there is ample parking. The breakfast was lovely (although american style and quite sweet - you can order English, but we saw the note too late).
All in all we had a lovely stay here and would come back.

“Wonderful Stay, Best Breakfast Cook in AK”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

This is a beautiful, gracefully appointed home that is a far cry from the Alaska lodge experience. The hosts are kind, friendly, and nonobtrusive. The beds are great and the rooms are quiet. Breakfast here is amazing - not just abundant but beautifully cooked. We stayed here at the end of a trip through some rugged, remote territory. It was a great opportunity to get high quality sleep and high-end restaurant quality cooking before the long trip home!
