If you have read any of my other reviews, you'll know that a big part of my rating is about the fitness facilities, especially the pool. The Inn at the WAC has the best facilities I've experienced and the rooms are very comfortable. I've stayed in many fine hotels on business and I can state with certainty that the room rate for the quality and location of this hotel is very reasonable.
We've just spent our 3rd New Year's Eve at the Inn at the WAC and decided to add an additional day to our stay to take in the sights of Seattle. Previous years, we've gotten a corner room with balcony - not very useful in the winter. We downgraded so we could stay the extra night and were pleased to find that the room was still very comfortable and had a nice view of the Christmas Star on Macy's department store. Our friends stay in one of the suites, so I can recommend all levels of rooms here.
My first stop (as usual) was the salt water pool. There are times when the pool is for lap swimming only, lap swimming shared with families and closed for swimming classes so ask for a schedule if you want to swim. I also looked around at the women's conditioning center and was really impressed with the variety and quantity of fitness machines. There are separate women's and men's fitness areas and a co-ed area with free weights and machines.
We had dinner and breakfast in Torchy's restaurant and happy hour in Haggerty's sports bar. I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable cost of the food (the wine was expensive), but not surprised by the high quality of the food and service. They had 3 Prix Fix selections inclusive of soup, salad, generous entree, dessert and class of wine. Torchy's would be a good place for a business dinner. We tried breakfast at another hotel just down the street and the cost was 35% higher with good food, but not the excellent service of Torchy's.
I would highly recommend a stay here for a "tourist in your hometown" like us or while in town on business or vacation.
One caution - do not turn on the bathroom sink full force while filling a glass - it will spill all over.
Room Tip: higher floors will have better views.
