No false notes here, from friendly doormen to swift check-in to lovely (upgraded) room. There are three restaurants/cafe within the building: the lovely Georgian Room for breakfast, lunch, or dinner; a very good cafe with excellent pastries for breakfast fare on the lower level; and Shuckers, an oyster bar/pub, also on the lower level. I tried all three and found service and food very good, though, with the exception of the cafe, on the pricey side.
The upgraded room was an elegant junior suite--two large rooms, large bath, plenty of closet space, minibar, desk, sofa, chairs, two TVs, etc. Very comfortable for reading, with good lighting and easily accessible electrical plugs for rechargers--something often overlooked by hotels.
The Fairmont Olympic is a beautifully refurbished older hotel of considerable elegance, located about 4 blocks from the Convention Center, two blocks from the new and spectacular Seattle Public Library, and three blocks from the Seattle Art Museum. It is well situated for shopping and has some of Seattle's most elegant stores within the complex.
I booked in connection with the Northwest Flower and Garden Show and got a great rate (plus the unexpected upgrade). Check for deals.
