“First White Water Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2010

My partner & I signed up for the Tieton River Day Trip. It was the beginning of the run, with the damn being let out, but not at full force. We wanted a milder trip for our first time. We lucked out with a sunny day! Given the cold water we felt lucky to have sunshine drying us out between the many splashes. They gave great information on what to bring, we were given wet suits to change into, and a comprehensive lesson, with time to practice. Our boat had two guides, one in training, and we had a blast. It was a lively group with lots of screams and action. The guides told many horror stories of rafts tipping over and branches knocking people out of the rafts. Part of the fear factor to make it more exciting I suppose. The main guide also pointed out the scenery, birds, trees and other nature along the way. Back at camp they made us a dinner of steak and corn. After such invigoration it was great to eat a meal and talk with some of our raft mates. Two rafts were launched on our day so we had some bumper car splash battles along the river as well. Fun!!!

The Tieton is the longest, fastest, and warmest river that we run, so it's no surprise that you guys had a good time!

“Felt like a high school field trip”

This was our first time"whitewater" rafting. It was disappointing primarily because the Wenatchee River was very low and there was little whitewater. We got hung up on the rocks three times. Because the rafting wasn't so great, the guides either slowed or beached the rafts (there were about 10 rafts) and they clowned around, jumping off the rafts, dumping the rafts, and encouraging swimming. Safety did not seem to be an issue and the guides were out there to have their own fun. The children, teens and college-age students were having a blast and we wished we were young again. It just wasn't a trip geared for middle-aged people. The guide was pleasant enough and did explain a little about the river and ospreys but we really prefer more in-depth information. The life vests and booties provided were smelly and transport on a school bus was unbearably hot and like a fieldtrip with noisy kids. BSO has no control over the weather, I know, but why make us put on the smelly life vests and carry our paddles on the hot bus? Overall, the tour could have been much better organized and a few photos along the way would have been nice.

“Express Trip on Wenatchee”

Had a great time with this crew. I found Blue Sky Outfitters online and called in a reservation. We did the Express trip on the Wenatchee River, Drysdale Dam to the Riverfront Park in Cashmere. This was my family's first whitewater trip, and it was fantastic. Our guide, Molly, did an outstanding job.

“Totally Awesome”

The Wenatchee river is beautiful and the tour guides were a lot of fun. We felt really special! We rafted with the guides the day before graduation. They were so friendly. You could tell they all loved what they were doing. We loved every minute. Molly, our "cruise director", was fabulous! She was amazingly informative and even cooks a mean steak! We highly recommend doing the package of white water rafting and wine touring. We can't wait to do both again.
