“Decent hotel shame about the location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

My company has an excellent negotiated rate with this hotel so as far as value for money goes it is excellent. They are also very good at honouring the complimentary room upgrade for Platinum members.

The rooms are clean but not sparkling, and many of the corridor walls and carpets are oddly marked/stained. Fortunately though the rooms themselves aren't.

Room service is very fast, in fact be wary as on several occasions I have been told that my food will be 20 minutes only to have to dash out of the shower 10 minutes later because they are knocking on the door!

The restaurant is nice but very expensive. Breakfast is fairly standard Holiday Inn, just choose your time to eat wisely or else be willing to get involved in the scrum with the Japanese tourists! In fact whilst big the restaurant can get very crowded at peak breakfast time.

The major drawback to this hotel is its location. A ten to fifteen minute stroll to the nearest RER/Metro station through what is not one of the nicest or safest feeling areas, especially in darkness.

Getting taxis from the hotel can be problematic on the main check-out days (Thursday and Friday). The hotel are always willing to book for you (I tried to book the night before, it was written down in the little diary that they keep and then forgotten about meaning I went to the back of the queue the following morning), but it becomes a bit of a free for all with anyone in the lobby waiting for a taxi rushing to each one as it arrives. This is hardly the fault of the hotel though who can only book the cars and then hope that the drivers keep to the customer that they were booked for.

Overall I will be staying here again due to long term work arrangements, however for location and general quality I would still favour the Holiday Inn Grands Boulevards.

“Try your best to avoid this Holiday Inn”

I travel around the world and liked Holiday Inn Chain a lot. However, this hotel is terrible in terms of services. We were on a family vacation in Paris and arrived very late (1 am) at this hotel. When we checked in, we were told that the room we booked can only have two people in them and we have to pay the listed price (250 Eu plus another 50 Eu for a folded bed) to get another room for our kids. We asked if we could use our priority points for the night and was told no. We asked for the writen regulations that this type of room could only hold only two people, they could not find it. They front desk even got the Paris police there to guard us out the hotel at 2:30 am! Luckly, we found a hotel right cross the street, the ibis hotel. They charge us only 59 Eu for the night. The room is very clean and the front desk is very friendly. The funny part is: we asked the front desk manager of Holiday Inn Paris -Porte de Clinchy, his name in order to file a compliant. He give us the name, Nicolas Rault, which later when I googled, is not his name but the General Managers name! Try your best to avoid this hotel!

Room Tip: Try your best to avoid this hotel!

Dear Jennifer L,

Thank you for your visit to our Hotel.

Your feedback is very important to us; therefore, we took the time to investigate all your comments.
Your initial reservation was made for two adults and you had checked in with the Front desk agent for two adults but once the keys to the room were handed in to you, three other young men respectively 10, 17 and 20 years old had entered the Hotel to join you into the room.
Most of our rooms are made for two adults and a very few for three adults maximum upon request and booked in advance. This policy is made to guarantee our client’s safety and comfort as well noted on our website.
As a Priority Club member, you should have known that all reservations must be made by you directly on your Priority Club Account. Our Front desk personnel is not allowed or entitled to offer this service.

As for the Police incident, it was our last resolve after literally chasing after your husband who was hiding from our Security Agent in the stairwell.

Once again, Mrs Jennifer L, Our personnel was working for you and not against you. In case of fire, it would have been their responsibility and I am sure and certain that you had taken more than one room in the other Hotel since we share the same policy “Two adults per room for our customers’ safety”.

Thank you again for your feedback and remain available for any details your may need.

Best regards
Oussama

“Good hotel, good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

I stayed at this hotel as I was in Paris on a business trip. This hotel happened to be a 10 min walk from the office which was pretty cool.

Location
The hotel is situated a 10 min walk from the St Ouen station. There are shops/restaurants nearby. It's not situated in central Paris.

Check in
The check in process was quick, I was informed that I would avail free wifi + coach to office next day as our company is considered their VIP customer (Awesome!).

Room quality / Service
The room size was adequate. Service was fast and efficient. An interesting this was they offered a choice of 4 pillows based on softness and material. I asked for a Firm synthetic and got one sent to my room. I hadn't seen something like this before so the hotel surely tries to please everyone.

Overall, great hotel & great stay.

“This is a great hotel and great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

We booked this hotel partly because we are Holiday Inn fans and partly because of a an excellent rate we were able to procure for the dates we stayed. After reading previous reviews we were prepared for a hotel that wasn't the best, in an area that was suspect and a location that would be difficult to use as a tourist. Wrong on all counts. We took the Paris Metro to the hotel and got off at Place de Clichy. Even with luggage it was just a 5 minute or so easy walk to the hotel. It was easy to find and had a beautiful facade, very nice lobby, fast elevators, clean rooms, bathrooms and hallways. Front desk staff helped us very nicely each time we had reason to talk with them. Upon check-in, as Holiday Inn Priority Club Gold members we were upgraded to the next level. We did not eat at the hotel, rather choosing to eat elsewhere for our meals. However, it appeared to have a lovely restaurant and cocktail lounge. After we checked in we took off on a quick journey of the area and we were more than delighted with what we found. Walking north we discovered the Seine River just about 20 minutes away. Along the way there were many grocery stores and shops where we could purchase items we like to have in our room. One block over is Avenue Jean Jaures that is simply a wonderful walking and shopping street with many Boulangers and Patisseries, restaurants for any taste and the ubiquitous McDonald's that had FREE Wi-Fi. (The hotel wanted 20 Euros a day for WiFi service). We walked this area every evening and never felt the least bit ill at ease. Additionally it was not touristy at all but more of a local area. Each morning we would take a walk South to the Metro Station and go wherever we wanted in Paris in very short order. I would tell anyone going to Paris if you want a hotel in a good location that is clean, modern and easy to find, this would be the place.

Room Tip: You would normally think a street view might be better but our room was on the backside of the hotel...
