“Great hosts, beautiful B + B, and a location that can't be beat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of our week-long honeymoon. We were very happy with everything about our stay- Chris, Louisa and their family were wonderful hosts and their home is extraordinary! I used TripAdvisor to assist me with choosing their place, and I found that the reviews of Casa Amanecer were accurate and helpful.

Some things that I think might be helpful that I didn't read in the previous reviews: The B + B is in a great location for exploring some of the smaller mountain towns and cloud forests. Chris and Louisa had some great suggestions for day trips and looked at the map with us in the mornings before we headed out. I appreciated their support and genuine interest in helping us make the most of our adventures off of the beaten path.

They even set us up with a friend of theirs in town who took us on a private horseback ride and guided hike in a nearby cloud forest. It was a very special experience- the guide was fantastic, knowledgeable and the tour was breathtaking.

I would definitely recommend renting a car with substantial, good tires. We picked the cheapest, manual transmission option at the car rental place and had four 'donut' tires that were not equipped for the roads in that area. We found it to be part of the adventure, but I think we might have gotten pretty lucky that we only got 1 flat.

We spent 3 nights here to see the Central Valley and cloud forests and then 4 nights at Playa Samara on the Pacific coast. They are both such unique, beautiful spots and the experiences complimented each other nicely.

“Wonderful place to stay- peacful and tranquil !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

My wife and I stayed there this last November for three nights. We very much enjoyed the place and the wonderful views we had just laying in our bed and watching the day break. The breakfasts that Chris and Lusia made for us was surpurb. We enjoyed talking with them in the mornings and getting to know and learn more about the real life in Costa Rica.
The B&B is a short dirve from the town of San Ramon. It is a great town to walk around in and we went into many stores and had great encounters with the local tico community. We felt very welcomed and safe in this town.
We would highly recommend this place as it is ideally situated to explore the Central Valley and not far from the Lake Arenal area.

“Ideally situated with fantastic hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

Chris and Luisa were phenomenal hosts, attentive, interesting, and full of great advice. The food was some of the best we had while in Costa Rica, and it didn't hurt to eat on a veranda overlooking the Central Valley.

The house and the rooms were very clean and secure; our hosts seemed to be always sprucing up when he wasn't dispensing great advice. The whole family was welcoming and friendly, including the children. We also appreciated their commitment to environmental responsibility, and they really went the extra mile a number of times for us.

We found San Ramon to be a lively town (Friday farmer's market, good restaurants) in a great location, close to the airport, convenient to Arenal/Fortuna and Guanacaste. Just a wonderful place all around. Can't recommend it highly enough.

“Safe, friendly, family oriented & delicious food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

My granddaughter (age 11) and I spent 7 nights here and felt welcome, satisfied and secure throughout our adventures in Costa Rica. Since I'm an early riser, Chris made sure that delicious Costa Rican coffee was on veranda early each day. Louisa & Chris' two children (Lucas 7 & Fiona 4) are bilingual and helped my granddaughter with her Spanish - all in play. The foliage, views, food, animals and hosts were wonderful. My daughter is already planning her trip with Casa Amanacer as home base. The town of San Ramon is unique and welcoming. We dined in local small restaurants - delicious food at great prices. One evening we ordered a dinner meal at Casa Amanacer and were served a gourmet delight on the veranda by candle light - salad, pasta and a wonderful homemade marinara sauce and pea soup with warm cinnamon tasting tea. Wow - we were in heaven.

“I can't wait to go back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2011

Casa Amanecer was wonderful and the bilingual children are great to play with! There favorite game is probably to play soccer and usually i don't like to play soccer but they make it FUN! There own little farm of a goat and two bunnies was different to see everyday and being able to INTERACT with them was amazing! The beds were comfortable and gave me the chance to sleep-in. The breakfast every morning was nutritious and HEALTHY! Everything was fresh and smelled good. I can't wait to go back! The view was beautiful and sight-seeing for us because we don't have mountains where we live! It was EXHILIRATING! To get the chance to go there again would be flawless!
Signed,
Emma H. age 11
