Very nice place to stay with modern, clean rooms in a quiet setting. We also had diner there which was very good and healthy. The hosts are very friendly and caring to ensure a pleasent stay. Safe parking & free WiFi.

The B&B can be reached comfortably in 1h from the airport in San Jose, so defentivly worth to stay there at the beginning or the end of your Costa Rica journey. Otherwise Arenal is not far either and the area is nice as it is located higher than the coast and is therefore less hot but still very mild.

My wife and I spent three days at this clean, calming and beautiful B and B and had a great time. Chris and Luisa are fabulous hosts and have made something very special here. If you are at all into building design you should stay here. The home is made of teak and has fabulous light filtering through the custom window shades. It's like waking up inside a Japanese lantern. Request the meals. Chris and Luisa provide great vegetarian food. And if you are looking for quetzals, book a tour through Chris with Ignacio. We saw four of the elusive birds. A short drive from the airport, it's a great way to break up the drive to Arenal and other points north.

Our family of four just returned from a week in Costa Rica and our first night was spent at Casa Amanecer. I booked two rooms for just one night and after being there for less than an hour my 13 year old son wondered why we wouldn't be staying longer. My kids loved the rabbits, we loved the hospitality and the views. The rooms are small but very comfortable and the real gem of this place is the beautiful veranda with sweeping views of the surrounding hillsides and town. There are comfortable rocking chairs and wireless internet access. The breakfast was filling and delicious and the innkeeper has many books and resources to help plan your stay in Costa Rica. I am sorry to have not met the owners in person (they were travelling) because all the email exchanges led me to believe that they are lovely people. We were very well taken care of in their absence, though. It is not a matter of whether I will return to Casa Amanecer but rather when I will return.

We were returning to Costa Rica for the 2nd time and travelling with couple that are friends and our son and daughter in law. Our flight arrived into San Jose in the afternoon and we were looking for a B&B between San Jose and Arenal, as we wanted to make the drive to Arenal during the am to enjoy the view. We found Chris's place on the iternet and corresponded with him months prior to our trip, but the time we arrived we felt like one of the family. His children and wife were away visiting family in Peru. We were greated with an wonderful wholesome and organic dinner, followed by an awesome cup of cinnamon tea on the porch to watch the sunset. The Costa Rican rocking chairs and the view were great I could have sat there for days and just relaxed and read. The rooms and accomodations were wonderful and breakfast the next am on the terrace was quite a treat. As always the Costa Rican coffee, fresh fruit, eggs and homemaid bread was delightful. We will deffinitely return and stay longer next time to take in the chocolate and volcanoe tours to the North. We only stayed one night and then headed out to Arenal for four nights and then down to the Manual Antonio area for five nights, but next time .....we will stay longer. Thank you Chris for making us feel at home and offering us a wonderful transition into Tico time and relazation.
