When i looked at Alaska’s Point of View website, i had several places to choose from. the were all so tempting, but since i didnt have anyone other than myself on this trip, i decided to experience a WWII Quonset Hut, theres two of them, and i chose the Moonshine Hut, as that was the available one at the time. The small suite with a jacuzzi bath and fireplace was tempting, since it is winter, and the full suite with a kitchen, livingroom and separate bedroom was just bigger than i needed. there were other places too, it was really a hard choice, as they all looked interesting. Since the small suite was already booked, I chose the Moonshine Hut (World War II Quonset Hut). It looked so quaint, and i sure am glad i did! This rounded long building is sooooo cute! The first look at the inside was one of those OOOH-AAAAH moments of surprise! What impressive decorations and furnishings. Handmade touches everywhere, not your average hotel generic stuff. The place was just unique all the way around. There was stained glass in the wall, hand made coffee and end tables with all kinds of treasures in them, and the floors were painted, with different patterns in each room. It really gave me a feel of the old and the new. Even tho the outside was from the 1930's, the inside was very modern with a fully furnished kitchen, a bathroom (with on-demand hot water heater-a real plus), a bedroom with a queen bed and the back porch. The porch had patio doors with a great deck outside with a view of Resurrection Bay and the mountain range on the other side of it. OMG, the sunrise on the mountains was incredible. i enjoyed my tea from the inside to watch it, but i sure do want to come again in the summer, to sit and barbeque on the deck and smell the bay breeze and watch the frolicing bunnies. Yes! there are these adorable little wild bunnes hanging out in the fenced yard. They are so fun to watch, all colors, too, and lots of birds. Maybe next time i will see a moose....I am already plotting my return visit. i bet this place is busy, so i better book it soon! Debra, the host, has all the comforts of home in this little getaway. there is a book i could browse to let me know what to do on my off time, where to eat, play, and shop. Seward shopping is amazingly diverse, i got a headstart on Christmas without the crowds, and the food in town is some of the best! I cant wait to return to Seward and stay again in the Moonshine Hut.
