“Excellent family stay”

We stayed here for 2 nights before getting on our cruise ship (in fact we walked there with our luggage fromm the hotel). The room was absolutely fine - very large by most standards. What made it exceptional was (a) the view - stunning sea/mountains in the sunshine and (b) the balcony. We were lucky enough to hit some great weather and we spent a lot of our time sitting on our balcony watching the sea otter who lives in the harbour ("Oscar" we gather) drifting past our noses, floating on his back in a leisurely fashion, as he went to cadge some fish from the fishermen, and drifting between the boats. A real privilege to see such a fantastic wild animal so close up. We visited the Seaveys "Ididaride" which the kids enjoyed, particularly meeting the husky puppies; we also visited the Sealife centre which we enjoyed. The free local bus shuttle into town was easy, and everyone in the hotel, shops and restaurants was chatty and welcoming. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: well worth asking for a sea view/balcony

“Great location and nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

The rooms were very large and have a small refrigerator and microwave. However, the hotel offers a continental breakfast which includes pre-made omelettes, biscuits and gravy, and pancakes. It's served on the backside of the lobby with double height ceilings, large glass windows and overlooks the harbor. It's a wonderful way to start the day. the staff at the front desk was average but the rest of the staff was extremely nice. Location is super convenient for Harbor Tour boats and exit glacier shuttles. The area is charming with some restaurants next door. But it's about a 1 mile walk to the other end of town. The free Seward shuttle runs about every 20 minutes or a 20 minute stroll down the road will you get there.

“Average hotel well over priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

It was an average hotel but well overpriced. Paid $280 for the room, most expensive by far in a five weeks holiday, including stays at Hilton, Sheraton and Pan Pacific hotels. On the plus side the room had a harbour view. There is not a large choie of hotels in Seward.

“Good Waterside Hotel”

We arrived on the Alaska Railroad and had our bags checked through right to the hotel for us where they held them until we checked in later in the afternoon. This freed us up to visit the Sealife Center and Exit Glacier without worrying about our luggage. Very easy walk from the train station just across the road. We had a harbor view balcony room that was very nice to sit on and soak up the views of the harbor and mountains. The seagulls were quite noisy early in the morning, but that was just part of the experience. The room was clean and well maintained. No problem with internet service during our stay. The lobby has comfortable seating, a fireplace, flat screen television, and desk with a computer for guests to use. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast choices were ok but rather limited for anyone staying away from carbs (only choice was small pre-made omelets). I would not hesitate to stay here again.

“Good choice”

It was a little more $$$ than the average HI Express but normal for Seward. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and have great showers. All that plus the included breakfast make this a great choice for those who want to avoid motels or are not looking for anything fancy. The location is perfect too.
