“it could have been good but....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2010

it was not up to standard. When we arrived we saw that the swimming pool was empty and were assured that it would be ready the next day. Everyday they came up with a new story and when we left 4 days later the pool was still far from open. The rooms had been redecorated and were reasonable, the shower would not stay in place and we were told that this was not repairable and was the same in every room, we fixed it ourselves. The bar staff were inexperienced and despite there being a cocktail card they could not make even simple cocktails properly, they also tried to sell dearer wine than the one requested. The buffet was ok, only spoilt by pushy Germans. The hotel is in a good location. The reception staff tried their best but we will never go back.

“Quite good actually (big & useful review)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

First of all, if you're interested in visiting this hotel I suggest you read this whole review. So let's start talking.. erm, typing.

The first thing I must say is that you should ignore the bad reviews criticizing the environment, the hotel is in Vodice and Vodice is a know destination for tourists looking for some fun, so if you're looking for a quiet and peaceful vacation try somewhere else (closest to Vodice is Prvić, a small island with no cars at all). So, now that we've cleared out the "problem of noise" read more.

## CHECK-IN&OUT
We've booked a 2+1 room via a tourist agency in Zagreb, the price was.. well, dunno, it depends on your financial status (check the hotel prices and decide by yourself). We've arrived with our own car, parked it in the hotel parking lot and had some problems with the check-in, the room wasn't ready for another hour.

The check-in is after 2 p.m. (14:00h), check-out is before noon (12:00h). The hotel parking is charged (now this is one of the worst things for me) ~7€ (40kn) per day.

## THE ROOM
So the rooms are just like on the pictures, we all have that question "what if it isn't like they say it is" - but here it really looks the same. But the problem with pictures is that you can't really say how big a room is, and the answer is.. not big enough for a +1 bed.

They've placed an additional bed in our room blocking the access to the mini-bar, a chair and we had some difficulties getting on the balcony but we took the matter in our own hands and reorganized the room so it was somewhat okay.

The bathroom is rather small but really good looking and nicely equipped.

The television has 4 main local TV programs + additional 15 international programs. You can also rent movies through the TV system and the price is 10€ (75kn).

The mini-bar is small so don’t plan on fitting something inside and is packed with beers, sodas and snacks. The prices are: Coca-Cola 25mL 3€ (20kn), Water 50mL ~2€ (15 kn) etc.

The beds are comfortable and sleeping is really good. Also the room lightning is perfect!

Also, free WiFi.

So in overall, the room is quite good.

## THE FOOD
We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel restaurant and there is a lot to choose from. Both breakfast and dinner are an open buffet type of meals. You can find really everything, from grilled vegetables, asparagus, fish (salmon etc.), shrimps, prosciutto etc. During breakfast the drinks are available and free (coffee, tea, a few espresso machines etc) but during dinner you will have to pay for a drink.

The only negative side of the restaurant for me is probably the lack of decoration.

In Vodice you can find a lot of places to eat, from Mexican, Italian to local dishes. Also there is a small fast food restaurant located on the beach beneath the hotel where you can eat tortillas and hamburgers for ~2-3€ (15-20kn).

## HOTEL - OTHER
I saw a few pictures here showing the pool like a dirty place, during my stay that was not the case. The pool is big enough for a nice swim and open from 9 a.m. (09:00h) to 9 p.m. (21:00h). The lounge chairs and umbrellas are free of charge. There is a small bar on the pool and the pool is supervised by a lifeguard and protected by a really tough-looking security guy.

You can also find a small gift shop inside the hotel, a small tourist agency, and a really nice bar where a local plays the piano every second night, also a spa centre.

Also I’ve read you can contact the reception and request the hotel doctor, babysitter, hairdresser etc.

## LOCATION
The hotel is located approx. 0.3 miles (500m) from the town centre.

## ENVIRONMENT
Vodice is a really popular tourist destination so expect the beaches to be crowded. The beaches are supervised by lifeguards and also protected by the hotel security. The lounge chairs *are* charged and the price is 3.5€ (25kn) per chair per day.

Also on the pictures you can see here, there is a construction site.. not anymore. Now that’s a hookah bar creatively named “Hookah bar” where you can enjoy a nice drink during the day and have fun on the “After beach party” starting from 4.30 p.m. (16:30h). The bar closes later on so there isn’t any noise. Also I would recommend a small pizzeria/restaurant right next to the Hookah bar called “La Spaga”.

If you have a small child, there’s a supervised part of the Hookah bar called “Kids hookah club”. Also you can play air hockey, pool, pinball and other stuff on the beach.

There are some water sports also available, for instance a drive inside a bubble on the water (10 min - ~4€ (30kn)) etc.

## STUFF TO VISIT
- Exit club - ask a local to point it to you, it’s not so easy to find it yourself. Located in the centre.
- Hacienda club - probably the most popular club in Vodice visited by a lot of famous people. Located a bit out of the centre, but you can find it, just look at the sky and follow the beacon light.
- Opium club - ask a local to point it to you, it’s near the Exit club. Located in the centre.

Have fun :)

Very crowded place, dirty and narrow beach, loud techno and disco from the nearest pubs close to the hotel directly on the seaside every night... be prepared not to sleep at least by 3a.m., neglected and dirty area around swimming pool, no garden around the hotel, looks like still under reconstruction...

“a good getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2008

We took a break during the October half term not knowing quite what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised by a lovely hotel, delightful staff and quite a reasonable buffet. Although this was the last week in the season, the sea was warm enough to swim in and the fish looked fantastic in the crystal clear water! Shame most of the specialist restaurants had closed so we couldn't sample any.

We arrived at the hotel to an international autumnal food fare - very impressive, and this set the tone of our holiday. The food was seasonal and everyone operated very professionally. Our room was very clean and comfortable, with very quiet aircon.

We were lucky with the weather as it was about 20-25 degrees every day,but getting much cooler in the evenings.

The only real downside/upside (depending on your view) was the fact that most of the resort had closed down for the winter, and found it hard to find anywhere to eat of a lunchtime, although you could always find a cafe/bar open for a drink or a small supermarket selling fresh bread, cheeses, meats etc, which we found to be reasonable value, and good quality.

overall we found Croatia,a very pretty country with wonderful people, good food, reasonably priced, and very clean.

“completely forgettable place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2007

The hotel is quite big, the room and breakfast were ok, although the bathroom was a little smelly, but it was clean. Typically crowded tourist place where you had to place your towel on the sun chair when you go down for breakfast if you want one for the day. The nearby beach was not attractive at all and it was packed. If you are not going to stay long in Croatia, you can really skip this place, although it is very near to places worth visiting (Krka National Park and Kornati Islands).

  • Liked — The bed was comfortable and the hotel was near Kornati and Krka.
  • Disliked — It was crowded, and the type of guests.
