“Fantastic food, great staff, great for families with kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

What a lovely hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was divine- 5 course meals every night and phenomenal breakfasts using locally sourced ingredients. Great wine list (Austrian red wine is fantastic!). Rooms were not luxurious, but very comfortable, clean and quiet. Only small complaint was that the mattress was a little hard, but they do offer a variety of pillows etc, so they would have probably happily addressed our concerns had we voiced them.
Very child friendly. If you have young children, there is a creche in the hotel itself, run by an excellent ski company (Powder Byrne).
Ski directly to/from the hotel. We'll be back!

Room Tip: Room 217 is great if travelling with a young child who goes to bed at 7.30pm, as there is a door bet...

“Great service in a quiet location with good access to ski routes.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

We stayed in Lech last year and fancied a change so booked here instead. Like most Austrian hotels it's exceptionally clean and well maintained. The room was, however, quite small and there was no bath in the bathroom. The decor is also getting a little dated now. Woodchip wallpaper? Seriously?! The noise of the two lifts during the night and early morning was quite difficult to sleep through some nights. The bed was perfectly comfortable but the pillows even after changing were too soft having virtually no stuffing.

The drinks are overpriced as are most things. Filling up the rooftop hottub will set you back €70. Having stayed in hotels where it's free this seemed a bit steep. The spa area is small but the sauna and steam are good.

Customer service and food here is excellent. Nothing is too much trouble. Wine is very expensive but this is Zürs, not St. Anton after all.

Access to the ski lifts is great and in the right conditions you can ski right to the door of the ski room. The region is AMAZING for skiing, the Arlberg region is world class.

So overall a four out of five. Might be gradually losing it's edge as number one in Zürs.

“Superb Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

My wife and I can only echo the great comments in other reviews. This is the best hotel we have experienced in 30 years of ski holidays. The hotel facilities were enhanced by the friendly staff and the very personal attention of the Egglers who live in the hotel (they eat the same great food that you do). They appear commited to providing a high quality experience at a very fair price

It was our first visit but many others were repeat visitors - and we were not surprised!

“A Wonderful Hotel for a Ski Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

I had a wonderful ski vacation at the Hotel Arlberghaus. The rooms were clean and simple--Germanic--the staff was at once friendly, unobtrusive, completely unobsequious, and the service was wonderful. Pretty much everyone speaks excellent English, by the way, so language is not an issue. Unlike most hotels in the area that want "in-season" bookings of no less than a week, this one will accommodate you for any length stay. The price includes breakfast and dinner, and represents an excellent value, especially when compared with nearby hotels. There is no attempt to chisel the guests; for example, Internet service is gratis. My room had a view of the ski slopes, which allowed me to assess conditions at a glance. They serve breakfast and dinner as part of the package. Breakfast was typically Austrian and well-done: think lots of meats, rolls, fresh bread, juice, fruit, and of course wonderful coffee. I was stunned by our first dinner: unlike ski resorts here in California, the dinner approached Michelin one-star quality. While dinners the next two nights weren't quite up to this standard, they were still excellent and represented good value. The proprietors have owned the place for generations and are both skiers; they freely offer excellent advice on where best to ski based on weather and snow conditions. There is a ski room downstairs with heated boot racks, lockable racks for skis, etc., and I literally skied from the lift to the ski room door. This hotel is family-friendly. I did not try the in-house spa or sauna--not my things. Ski passes are easily purchased at the front desk and the bus stop is right outside the hotel front door. Basically, your ski vacation begins the moment you check in. They offer parking, which is important because on a busy day the road through the valley is parked solid for miles, although be prepared to dig your car out if it snows and ... you may really need chains (hint: take the bus from the railway station). If I have any complaint at all, it is that--in-common with just about all hotels in Europe--the lobby has the faint smell of cigarette smoke. I highly recommend this hotel.

“The best way to experience "Der Weiße Ring"”

Hotel Arlberghaus in Zurs, it doesn't get any better! First of all, let me start this review with the location. Hotel Arlberghaus is probably situated in the best location if you want to enjoy the experince of the whole "White Circle" (St. Anton, Zurs, Lech). The ski lifts are walking distance and there is free shuttle bus connection to St. Anton and Lech right outside the hotel.
Now as a hotel, the secret behind the excellent service in every category is that it is owned and managed by the Eggler family. There is always a very warm welcome by the whole family, which continues along your stay to make you comfortable. The spa is very well made to service all your needs. The restaurant and the food are amazing and they even introduced new courses in the menu for some of our friends with diet restrictions. Breakfast is definitely something to look forward to, as there is a report everyday on your table with all the activities and recommendations for Lech and Zurs and there are always some great ideas! You basically go to Arlberghaus and have a relaxing holiday, as everything is taken care of (ski pass, instructors, even heli-skiing!) with a very personal touch. I was lucky to be there for Christmas, which is a great experience, as the Eggler family hosts a champagne reception in their flat, for all the hotel guests, followed by Christmas songs and presents. A very touching and traditional way to enjoy Christmas. Thank you
