“Great hotel - apart from the barman”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Our stay was great. Free breakfast, free cookies at the check-in counter, wonderful older buildings that are all connected together in a comfortable way. Location is just minutes outside the French Quarter but close enough to enjoy everything the Quarter offers. Rooms are very comfortable and the beds are good. Clean and spacious.

The breakfast here is very good, a great variety and selection of food. It should not be missed if you can help it.

Our only issue here was the bartender. When we arrived there were no cookies at the check-in counter. We didn't know there was supposed to be cookies, but there were. Guy at the counter said we could go to the bar and they had a supply there. It was on the way to the lifts /elevators so we stopped off to pick a couple up. There were two people at the bar, one of whom was waiting for service, the barman was not there. He came out a couple of minutes later, served the first person and came to us. We asked for the cookies and he said no, he didn't have time. That was it. Nothing else. Just no. It wasn't exactly like he was run off his feet or anything, we just seemed to be an inconvenience to him. Shame really as everything else about this hotel was very good.

By the way, the cookies were at the counter every other time we came and went, and they were delicious.

Glad you had such a great experience here in New Orleans and at our hotel. I am surprised to hear your feedback, as each bartender tends to get extremely positive reviews (one has even received national attention for his service skills!), but I will definitely bring it to their attention as a reminder that every interaction really does make a big difference. I think you got a good glimpse at how service oriented we really are during your stay though, and hope you get to come back again soon!

“Nice quiet suite, great location. Walk to French Quarter and museums.”

Great value. Booked early, paid only 114.00 per night for a suite. Very good breakfast included. Concierge recommended City Tours, wonderful 3 hour tour with James and Jean.

“Fantastic Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We booked 3 rooms (3 couples) and were able to have access before lunch which was great. Very helpful and friendly staff and the rooms were great with character and lovely comfy beds. Excellent location - can walk to the main street (Canal Street) in a minute, the Riverwalk and World War 2 museum are only minutes away as is Bourbon Street and the French Quarter. Access to free internet in the reception area is a bonus. The breakfast was okay - could be improved upon. We would recommend and certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: We all had good rooms, possibly request one that does not overlook the rubbish skips

Glad you had a great trip to New Orleans! It sounds like just about everything was perfect. The location is a great perk as we are just steps away from just about anywhere you want to go, but just far enough that you get a quiet night of rest.

As I have mentioned on here before, we actually recently revamped our breakfast and had a lot of new offerings. We have definitely been listening to the feedback on those and decided to tweak the menu just a little bit more. Hopefully with a few new options, we can turn your "ok" into a "fantastic" next time you come to New Orleans! We appreciate the feedback, and are definitely listening! Thanks for taking the time to share and we hope you get to come back soon!

“Great Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Stayed with my wife and kids in December. Good location to Riverwalk as well to the French Quarter. Breakfast was okay, the kids enjoyed it more than we did. My man Melvin at the bar is truly a funny dude. My wife enjoyed sitting there while we drank just to talk with him. Came back to New Orleans for New Year's Eve stayed at a different hotel but we still made our way to the bar to enjoy a few drinks and say hello to our boy Melvin on New Years Day. Great staff, comfy rooms, great location, and reasonable prices. Will book again for my next New Orleans vacation.

With our other bartender, John, getting so many kudos on here - it is great to see Melvin getting the same. He is also fantastic! We hope your travels bring you back down to New Orleans soon!

“Great stay”

We booked a 4 night stay at this hotel on 2/1-5/12 b/c we were meeting friends who wanted to vacation in this city. Our friends picked us up from the airport and we arrived at the hotel ~2 pm and instead of holding our luggage, the management was able to let us register early. We had booked a suite which included a sitting room with couch & TV with another TV in the bedroom. The room had a refrig. & microwave with coffee/tea service. The suite was very clean. This hotel was originally 5 buildings which were remodeled into a hotel. We had high ceilings (15 ft) which added to the charm to this hotel. We enjoyed the hot breakfast (waffles, eggs, meat, fruit, oatmeal, muffins, bagels, juice, etc.). I liked that the hotel tried to vary the way to serve eggs; one day we had eggs burrito style with cheese, green peppers & salsa; another morning we had fried eggs instead of the usual scambled. In the evening they had drink specials which were pretty reasonable for a hotel. I also loved the fireplace room and comfy couch & side chairs to enjoy the morning paper or to wait for friends. There was a bright large lobby with additional seating. There was a coffee/tea station 24 hrs in the lobby and fresh cookies, too, by the registration desk. There are two computers with printers for guest use. This hotel was was ~5 blocks from the convention center (short blocks) with Harrah's casino as a diversion. Our friends used the Premium public parking around the corner for $10 a day. There were many public parking areas to choose from. One day we played for 30 minutes on the penny machines at Harrah's and that allowed us to park free at their parking ramp for 24 hrs. This hotel is very convenient to French Quarter; we were 2 blocks away from Canal street. We walked back every night after visiting the FQ and we never had any feeling of danger. Lots of people walking around at night; just use common sense. The cleaning staff corrected a flickering light in our room immediately. The hotel front desk & conciergie staff were extremely friendly and very helpful during our 4 day stay, always with a smile. I would stay at this hotel again and will recommend it to my friends.
