“Awesome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

Have visited New Orleans numerous times. Ask a local where to go and you find gems like this. Yes, it is old; it looks that way from inside and out. The food is VERY good and reasonably priced. The beer is cold – have a Dixie. We’ve had steak, tacos, salad. All were flavorful and well prepared. No mistake, this is not gourmet food. Portion size is large enough to be shared (sometimes)! If you want a good meal at an awesome price this is the place – don’t let looks deceive you. It may be hard to find a seat at lunch - local construction, office workers, and tourists are all here w Only down side are the bathrooms. However, even the nicer restaurants in New Orleans have old dirty bathrooms. Bring your own hand sanitizer.

“Great food, cold beer, and an even better price!”

We went to the Country Flame on the advice of a local, and everyone should go. It isn't pretty, but the food is fresh, tastes great, the service is wonderful and the beer is cold. What more could you ask for?!

“The best empanadas, great fried pork, shredded beef and salsa!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

I had the best empanadas here! Three of us ordered so I tried the stewed beef, shredded beef and fried pork...delicious! I recommend the shredded beef (ropa vieja) with white rice. Don't order the yellow rice. Now, this is not a fine dining restaurant, it resembles a lot of the mom n pop places you see around NYC (which I love) but if your looking for a trendy spot with cool lighting and art deco bar, take your food to go. Other than that, the food was excellent!!! It is also inexpensive...

“Fixing that Burrito Fix in the French Quarter”

As far as I am concerned, New Orleans is all about seafood, Creole and Southern cooking - that was before Country Flame. The place seems to be a dive. Then, came the food. Generous portions. Great prices. A must-visit after a late night of partying.
