My girlfriend and I recently stayed for 5 nights at O'Malley House (OMH). This was her second time to NOLA and this was my very first time to visit the city. I'm a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada and traveled in for the parades. My sister and brother-in-law are both members of Krewes that ride and have stayed at OMH a number of times. I also had a brother who stayed their twice. They all remarked that they loved the place so I was always curious about it. The actual experience of staying at OMH was awesome. The rooms are spacious, the decor is beautiful. It's obvious that a lot of work went into the interior decorating---simply put, it's just an aesthetically beautiful house. I loved the artwork hanging on the wall. I really got a kick out of the Mr. O'Malley painting on the second floor as well as the Napoleon painting right outside my bedroom on the second floor. OMH is close to the action, yet it's in a peaceful area that let's you retreat from a day of revelry in the Big Easy (i.e. 4 Hurricanes in a row at Pat O'Brien's). I also loved the tea bar, dessert bar (muffins usually) on the first floor and the free soft drinks and beer in the refrigerator. They also had complimentary wine available. That was a nice extra touch. What really makes this B&B stand apart though, are...My girlfriend and I recently stayed for 5 nights at O'Malley House (OMH). That was a nice extra touch. What really makes this B&B stand apart though, are the owner and the manager. Larry, the owner, is one of the funniest people I've ever run into. He makes you feel super comfortable. He is one of those rare people you run into in life that just makes you feel good about yourself, life and the world. He is also super knowledgeable about the city, restaurants, etc. Larry's devotion to customer service and making sure his guests are comfortable is truly impressive--it's OMH's true competitive advantage. He genuinely loves interacting with the guests and you can tell it's a passion--he's not doing it "just because". The manager, Brent, is likewise very customer-service oriented and you can tell that he really likes what he does for a living. I think if one were ever thinking of starting their own B&B that they should stay at OMH to see the right way to do it. I have to say that I didn't want to leave New Orleans and OMH--I had so much fun. One thing I can say for sure is that I'll be staying at O'Malley House again in the future when I return to NOLA! I can't wait to go back. If cost is an issue for you, don't think twice about staying at O'Malley House. You get a lot of bang for your buck as far as amenities and the total stay experience is so awesome that it's absolutely worth it. If you're thinking about staying at O'Malley House, do not hesitate to book it now. You'll be glad you did.More
