“Great Safe Location, Helpful Staff, Room a bit dated”

My family (3 of us) stayed here recently for two nights prior to leaving on a cruise from New Orleans. Check in was a breeze and we had a room with a shared balcony/porch on the second floor. The room was clean and our real only complaint was the old air-conditioning unit that could not be turned off ....that wasn't the problem... the problem was that the unit had a thumping noise that never stopped. We liked the location of the room with the balcony so we didn't seek to move after we had unpacked everything. We were able to get up each morning and take a 5 minute stroll to Cafe DuMonde for beignet and chicory coffee. The location is really ideal for it is within a 10 to 15 minute walk to everything in the French Quarter. We'd probably stay again if I could get a good rate for the room due to the location alone.

Located at the edge of the French Quarter and with its own parking lot, this is my favorite NOLA hotel. The rooms are getting a little dated (we had a broken floor lamp), but not enough to make me look elsewhere. Our room was clean and the desk clerks were very helpful and friendly.

“Great price and service”

Stayed 3 nights for along weekend. The service was wonderful and helpful . The breakfast was fresh and a good price compare to other breakfast meal in the French Quarters. What was really nice was getting away from the noise of the other streets. My only complaint was are room was really cold on the 3rd night.

“not so great”

The people who checked us in were very nice. The room is dumpy. The king size bed is hard as a rock. We were told the internet was free but we couldn't find a signal. So if you don't care about those things you will like this place. I wouldn't stay here again.

“Authentic New Orleans Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

My party had a very nice stay at Le Richelieu in August 2011. We found the hotel to be clean, comfortable and quiet. The hotel staff were polite and helpful. This hotel is conveniently located for visiting the French Quarter, the New Orleans Museum of Art (highly recommended!), the Mississippi River, Cafe du Monde, shopping and of course culinary establishments galore.
Although the hotel offers 80 some rooms & suites, the facade is quaint with a long communal balcony. The tall windows and doors sport wooden shutters and the wooden balcony is edged with - what else? - a wrought iron balustrade. The centerpiece of the interior courtyard is a rectangular swimming pool that is surrounded by attractive landscaping and plenty of tables and chairs. The hotel's restaurant and bar has a glass wall opening onto the courtyard. Restaurant guests are served either inside or poolside according to their wishes. The restaurant servers are true professionals who are attentive to your needs. I noticed that locals frequent the restaurant for NOLA style business breakfasts.
It is true that no one offered to carry our luggage to our room, but I wasn't expecting this given the hotel's affordable price. New Orleans was quite hot and humid during our stay, but the hotel's HVAC kept us comfortable. I appreciated having an iron and ironing board already in the closet. From what I observed, it appeared that room service was very active. The staff at the front desk were able to answer my questions, recommend local restaurants and attractions and help coordinate transportation.
Overall, I would recommend Le Richelieu to anyone who does not require luxury, but seeks comfort, cleanliness and convenience.
