This is a newly re-opened motel. The neighborhood it's in is terrible. It's surrounded by railyards, overpasses, and vacant buildings left empty by Katrina and as a result there were a lot of squatters and homeless folks in the neighborhood. The room I checked into had nowhere to hang up clothing and didn't even have a chair in it! The website offered free WIFI, but there was none. Most of the "new furniture" advertised is still in the office in boxes so the room was very sparse.There is no breakfast room and no lobby, just a security window and a counter. I would not recommend this lodging if you are worried about security. It was truly a frightening experience after dark. What already seemed like a scary neighborhood by day turned into a whole different place. I ended up leaving and going to a different hotel. Being a cheap destination with the promise of new furnishings lured me in, but when I saw bars on all of the windows in the office, and what the neighborhood looked like, I had to get out of there.
