The hotel room was clean, spacious, modern...I loved the bathrobes they provided. The price was very reasonable as well. The only thing that surprised me was that on Saturday evening there were people partying in the rooms below and next to us and they were quite noisy (I didn't think we should be able to hear them since the hotel was new but the noise was coming more from the window) I was so tired I was able to sleep. We stayed in a suite overlooking Camp Randall and I would love to come back for a Badger Football game weekend. We went to State Street and attended the UW Mens Hockey game. The free parking was a plus!! You can walk to State Street (about 15 minutes) or take your car and find public parking. We bowled in the Sett and watched a band perform in the Union. A great place to eat breakfast is Mickeys Dairy Bar which is next to the stadium. It is about a 5-10 minute walk from Union South. It is a small place with great food, reasonably priced. Be prepared to wait for a table/counter spot as they have you seat yourselves. I think they only serve until 2 pm or so. I am a Badger alum and will definitely be back!!

I was visiting one of the nearby departments and thought this hotel was just perfect. I went to school here and thought that the hotel would be loud and I wouldn't get much sleep, but that was not the case at all. The rooms were large and clean, the front desk was helpful and nice. It was just a great way to get back and visit my old haunts while also getting some work done.

That was what my wife's quote after our stay this past weekend. She's a light sleeper and usually does not sleep well in hotels. Overall, just a great stay. We both graduated from UW and were very impressed with the hotel and the rest of the new Union South.

Service was excellent - upgraded to the suite, getting us a cab w/discount, very pleased with the service. For the price and location - it can't be beat. We will definitely be back!

For a UW alum, it doesn't get any better than this hotel. Really great facilities--fantastic beds, very contempo shower, clean quiet rooms--situated right in the midst of the academic ferment of the Engineering campus, and right next to Camp Randall. I've stayed in 5-star hotels around the world, and although this is no 5-star hotel, it's by far the best hotel I've seen in downtown Madison, and about 1/3 cheaper than comparable places. Parking worked really well for me, as did sipping Rathskeller Ale in the bar downstairs and introducing my toddler son to Babcock ice cream at the Daily Scoop. Even better, they have a coffee shop serving Peet's coffee and tea. I won't be staying anywhere else on future visits to Madison if I can help it.
