I chose to stay at the Motel 6 in Madison due to its location to the highway and to the relative cheapness of the one night stay. I say this so you can keep in mind that I knew that it was not the 'nicest place.' I was in the room for a couple hours, after having left for a bite to eat when I went to throw something out and I spotted a dirty condom and wrapper in the trash. I called the manager on duty, Andy, and he didn't say anything when I explained what I found. He explained that he knew that the room had been cleaned because he heard the vacuum earlier that day. I only received an apology when I explained that I cannot believe that the room is clean if his standard of clean is a dirty condom in the room. He then went on to say that it is quite 'suspicious' that I had been in the room for 3 hours and only now I found the item. So, after being accused of being a liar and a tramp, I requested a refund and said that I would prefer to finish the last 5 hours of my 16 hour drive than to spend the night in the dirty hotel. Andy informed me that he needed to 'check out my room.' I was disgusted by the 'cleanliness' of the room and the unprofessional behavior of the manager. I also filled out a complaint form online at Motel 6.com of which did not seem to make an impact on the higher management of this corporation. Don't use Motel 6...there is getting what you paid for and then there are establishments that should just be shut down...like Motel 6!

Please avoid this hotel. It is the single worst place I have ever checked in to. It is unkempt, loud, drug-riddled, and overflowing with prostitutes. I really felt a great saddness for those whose lives led them to this place. The frightening thing is: it doesn't look that bad from the exterior. Inside it is something of a Dickensian nightmare. There is no way that I would allow anyone I cared for to stay in such a place.

Dirty, Smelly, The floors were nasty, One of the light sockets in the room waS JUST HANGING LOOSE. The tub was built up so high that you almost needed a step lader to get out of the shower and there were no hand rails to use for balance. I am sure if the room were inspected the whole building would be shut down. Do not even think of using the pool.... water was cloudy you could not even see the bottom of the pool. after we left we checked into our next hotel early so we could re-shower

Had a dr. appt at the VA hospital, so stayed here with my mom, thought the price was ok, so we got a room. Should have went with our first instincts and went somewhere else. The outside was kind of run down but thought we'd give it a try. The floors were SO disgusting! Stains all over between the beds and on the mattress covers. Tried overlooking it and not get too grossed out. The walls are paper thin and you can hear all the noises in the room next to us. When we finally fell asleep, we woke up to our "neighbor" yelling at the girl in the room with him. Screaming that she better get back or else. The locks on the doors really didn't latch well, and we had a door with adjoining rooms. We thought the guy might have been raping the lady, so at 3am we packed up as quietly as we possibly could and got out of there as fast as we possibly could. We didn't know if he could come and do something to us also. We never found out what really happened but will never stay there again! I wish we would have asked for our money back. I didn't even get to use the shower! We ended up going to the hospital and sleeping in the car in the parking lot until my appointment time.
