This is to bring to the notice of SLTB. SLTB has to take necessary actions to refurbish the property immediately as this is brings disgrace to the country. I as a Holiday Consultant who work in a travel company, personally i have visited the property & it is not suitable even for locals. unclean rooms & bath rooms. food is good for nothing..

I hope that SLTB will take necessary actions immediately on this regard.

The hotel is extremely dull and has poor ambience. Everything seems old in the hotel.
We had already read the reviews,so we knew this place would be dull.
The only advantage is the location. In our 2 might stay in Nuwara Eliya, we decided one day in Windsor only for the fact that this property was located in the prime location. So in the evening we could walk about the roads and get back safely even without our driver's help.
The staff were friendly and had packed us the breakfast early in the morning since we had to start to Horton quite early.
Advantage: Location, Staff
Cons : Dull, not so clean, food :(

We went for a trip to Sri Lanka in the second week of Aug 2011. One of the places in our itinerary was Nuwara Eliya. Our reservation was at Windsor.

We were 2 families and had booked 2 standard rooms with half board basis.

One of the rooms did not even have a telephone, we complained & the house keeping staff fitted them in a while.
None of the rooms have televisions. (They have a TV lounge at the lower level)
The rooms do not even have a doormat
The washbasins do not drain properly & take a while.
we just discovered that the biggest problems are yet to come by -
It was dinner time - we were told of a buffet during booking - but we got to know that they serve only a set menu. Unfortunately the set menu does not cater to the indian palate.
We ordered for noodles & fried rice - both were horrible & couldn't take more than a few spoons. Then the desert - choice of fruits or ice cream - 3 of us ordered fruits & 1 of us ice cream. we were given 4 half slices of pineapple each - thats it !!! We we were not allowed any second helpings at all................

Next day's breakfast again was a set menu - choice of egg - & toast, tea or coffee. One of us wanted a second omelet. We were denied told we would be charged 200 sri lankan rupees for that. The bread was a little hard but still managed to have that.

One of the rooms we checked in - the drain in the shower area got flooded after one of us used it. The house keeping staff came over & couldn't do much about it. The bathroom in that room was unusable after that. We were given only the option of using the bathroom / shower in another room in our floor & getting back to our room.

The room service staff are not attentive & this cost us a little more because of this. they brought the wrong order & charged us for that too.

Overall I would rate my experience way below average - WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO STAY AT THIS PLACE .

In my recent tour at Srilanka , I Visited the TEA TOWN of Nuwara Eliya, When my guide drove me to Hotel Windsor I felt the diferrence immediately.It is a hotel apperently bit gloomy , with insufficient light, even no lift to go upstaires, But with heritage in every corners of it..Even all the chairs are old british make, some love seats of old designs in every lounge. In the Breakfast lobby there is a Piano. My wife asked for to play , & the attendant immediately braught the key to open it.( Though the result was not very encouraging).
There is a little lack in service area, Less stuff than requirred. But The Foods are comfortable.There is no variety in the breakfast .But it was not bad either. You will love a piece of old english country side touch in this small tea town hotel if you come for just a couple of night.
