“History at this inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

Gatlinburg Inn is located right in the heart of Gatlinburg. It is an older facility, rather quaint as the rooms are furnished in 60's style furniture, the carpet and wallpaper are from that era as well. If you like to sit and relax, there is a balcony or patio for each room and plenty of rocking chairs in the lobby and on the front porch. The beds were quite acceptable but the pilllows needed replacing. If you are looking for the latest in modern amenities, you won't find it here. No hairdryers, fridges, or microwaves in the rooms. The walls are a bit thin. We could occasionally hear voices from adjoining rooms. Cleanliness was exceptional and the history of the inn displayed in the many pictures on the walls made this a stop we thoroughly enjoyed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of Gatlinburg. Some of the rooms have a view of the roof.

“Good things, bad things”

We just finished our third stay at this hotel. While we love the '60s decor and nice staff, the noise in the evening & night this time has made us decide we won't stay here again. There was a musician street performer set up in the parking lot (with the permission of the hotel owner) playing guitar and singing. She was so loud it was just awful. We complained to the front desk and they sent the security guard out there twice to have her turn the amp down. She continued until almost 10pm making it impossible to sit on the balcony and simply enjoy a quiet evening. Then around 12:30am we were awakened by a bunch of people yelling and playing music in the parking lot at the bar next to the hotel. Obviously the hotel was not to fault for their noise but paired with the singer it was enough to make us call it quits for this hotel.

“Wonderful experience”

We stay in The Gatlinburg INN on October 7 & 8 of October 2011.
I'm telling you we had 3 15 yr olds, a 16 year old, and an 11 year old. This place is an oldet place I believe one of the firsts hotels built here in 1937. It has that old timey feel and even has an old timey smell and look but all these things just play into this perfect little theme. We all loved it. Mrs. Maples is here everyday and will just have the sweetest conversation with you if you will let her..
I dare say this is the CLEANIEST place in Gatlinburg.

“The only place to stay in Gatlinburg”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

The only place we or I have stayed for the past 20 years while visiting the GSMNP. I thought it was a private resort at first until I asked one day and was shown the inside and a room. Clean, friendly, quiet, fun, safe, and worth every penny. They have rules and that is fine with me. You will not find a cleaner or friendlier hotel in town. The history around the place is awesome and I never tire of enjoying it. If you are looking for fancy or saunas, or hot tubs; this is not the place for you. If you want a fun and clean place to stay and are willing to get to know the people it is charming beyond belief. I would not consider staying anywhere else. Thank you Ms. Maples for keeping your home as nice as it is and for sharing it with us.
