My bestfriend and I were super stoked about going rafting in the Pigeon River! It was her first time so she had some mixed feelings about it because she doesn't know how to swim but I wasn't going to let her bail on me. We got booked the day prior to our trip by Lisa at the Gatlinburg office, she was helpful, super sweet and kept reassuring us we were going to have a great time!
We arrived at their outpost quite early, checked in and changed into our gear while we waited for others to arrive. We mingled, collected our gear and hopped on the bus to get to our destination. While on the bus ride, the guides give you important safety information and answered our questions.
When we arrived, we were told that unfortunately the flow of the water was low. The trip was a little longer than usual but it was quite relaxing and we LOVED it! We were able to enjoy the flow and nature all around us. Our guide Attila was amazing! He was very clear on his commands and praised us much when we paddled with him and helped him get over the lowest areas of water where we would get stuck on rocks. He was always having to jump in the water due to these circumstances. The weather was a bit nippy that morning too so poor Attila was cold and wet most of the time but he was a great guide if not the best that day! Thanks for the memories Attila!!!
It was a great experience! Even though I would have liked to have had some crazy rapids I can't complain on the small ones we had because they were very enjoyable too! I would totally recommend this adventure for all first timers!!! It was alot of fun!!!
