My husband and I visited Gatlinburg in September for our wedding and stayed at the River Terrace. Our check in went smoothly, the staff were very polite and helpful, but the room was a disappointment. It was a bit old and outdated as far as the carpet and bedding. Very poorly lighted. Balcony door did not lock easily. By the second night we were invaded with ants that were everywhere and had to call the front desk in the middle of the night to come and spray the room down. The neighbors in the room beside ours complained and said they were checking out early when they woke one morning with ants in their beds! We're so glad the ant invasion was not worse and ended up staying the full 3 nights that we intended to, but I will more than likely never stay here again or recommend this location to family or friends.

Me and my wife stayed at River Terrace on our first anniversary. When came to check in, we were told that our room was overbooked. For our inconvenience we were upgraded to a deluxe room at no extra charge. We completed our paperwork and signed the contract for our deluxe room and were told to come back in 2 hours to give them time to get the room ready for our keys. When we returned the managers had went thru shift change and the new manager reassigned us to a downgraded room and altered the contract we had previously signed without our knowledge or consent and when we were given a copy of our contract we asked her to verify it had been altered after the signature. We were told to be on our way and be satisfied with the reassigned downgraded room or be EVICTED FROM THE PREMESIS! 1st- you don't legally alter a signed document without the signer's consent or knowledge. 2nd- you don't promise a guest a specific room to make up for your error and then take it back!

This hotel is in a GREAT location, very close to downtown and nice walk to get there. The room is older, so I checked very closely for bed bugs, bath grime, stains, etc, and to my delight... none found. The drapes did not touch the top of the window so at night there is a light pattern on ceiling that was a little bothersome, (if you can't sleep). We traveled with someone in a wheelchair, and the front desk accomodated us after looking at the ramp to our original rooms. Our rooms also all connected (four in a row), which was great. The restaurant was NEVER busy, not even sure it was open. About a 5 min walk to Pancake Pantry, and a 10 min walk to Bubba Gump and skylift.

We had a very nice room with balcony overlooking the river. The staff at check in was friendly and quick to assist us. The maid service was good. The room was very neat and clean even though this is a older hotel it was well maintained. The only issue with the room was the location of the AC unit made it hard to cool the sleeping area without it being very cold in the bathroom area. The location is great. The mountain mall is accross the street and you can walk anywhere you need. We had a great time and stay.
